New Top, Brush Guard, and License Bracket

Want to start out by thanking Bigeasycigars for selling me his hard top. The top was in very nice shape, no cracks in lift gate, has sliders, and an original hatch handle with key! Not only did he sell me the top for a fair price, but he fed me lunch (pizza), and he and some of his friends helped move the top out of storage and mount it to my Blazer. He is a true stand-up guy. Wish everyone I dealt with was so cool.

Anyways, shot some pics of the top on my truck, my new (old) brush guard I got from another board member, the flip up license plate mount that I got to work with my Sidewinder winch install, and some pics I like to call "Big and Small". You will see why. Enjoy.

Wow, that front bumper winch is sweet! How did you do up the bumper to clear it? Cool big and small too:lol:

It doesn't get much better. A driveway full of classic American Iron. And it happens to be one of my favorite colors.

That is a really nice k/5. I was wondering what mine would look like with the sliders on it. Let's not overlook the seller, lets give props to him for being such a great person.

Red71Cheyenne - The winch is an old 70's era Hickey Sidewinder. It fits up between the engine crossmember and the front bumber with minor trimming of the bumper. I fabbed up the mount, as I could not locate an original one made for a Blazer.

Big Block - I love ochre too. I don't choose my trucks by what color they are, but rather what I just happen to find. I really wanted a hugger orange Blazer, but came across mine 15 years ago and fell in love.

Bouncytruck - The sliders are great. Allows passenger in back seat to get more air, and really keeps the interior cooler when cruising in the high desert with the front windows down too. Kind of comes in the front windows and goes out the sliders without causing a lot of tubulence.

Shiner - I don't know much about the sliders other than they were an old aftermarket item. They open like pick-up truck rear window sliders with 4 panes of glass each, and can be locked when closed. The winch is a Hickey Sidewinder as mentioned above. I run 6-inch Superlift springs all around, but I get a little more lift out of the 14 bolt rear and D60 front due to bigger axle tubes. Removed one leaf out of each of the front springs to soften up the ride and lower the nose a bit. Tires are 35x12.50x16.5 Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips on old 9.75x16.6 steelies.

Jtrux - The Bronco is my daily driver. I rescued it from its original owner a couple years back, brought it back to life, and now just use it as it was intended - a utility vehicle. It was essentially rust free being from Southern California. Its a great little truck with a 302 and 3 speed manual on the tree, but I far prefer the Blazer for long road trips/exploration.

Thanks for the info, it really looks like it belongs there. I kind of figured you had trimmed the bumper yourself, but wasn't sure if they made one to fit around the winch.

Your Blazer has had several different looks over the years and all of them looked great. I really like this one.

Re: New Top, Brush Guard, and License Bracket

Wow. Another old thread back to life! Yeah the Blazer has seen a lot of changes. Those pics in 2010 were taken a year before I decided to cut all the cancer and crappy bodywork hiding under the diamond plate and replace it all with OEM steel. Did it all before my first son was born in 2011 and never committed to getting the paint done. I still say I'm going to paint it every year. But I use it too much to take it out of service. I consider its current mismatched/primered appearance to be a theft deterrent!

Sorry, man, I didn't notice it was a resurrected thread. I still love the way your Blazer looked back then. I have to say, though, I admire how you make your Blazer your own.

I certainly appreciate the kind words. Maybe next year I will get paint on the Blazer and color matched stripes on the camper. Next year....
