How much would a early 60's good running 283 motor go for?

well it seems that area's that have little to no rust (salt used) engines go for more money because the cars last longer. but where the cars rot out they have lots of engines.
area does play a factor on engine price. a good running engine of any flavor is worth 300.00 and up.
theres to many variables to put a set price on a engine
you will get all kinds of guess's

They`re getting hard to find.I`d say from $300-$500 complete and heard running.

I paid 200 for mine, 2bbl with some brackets, fresh heads.
Running w/ brackets, 2bbl, $400 max. 4bbl w/good heads, $600.
Very limited appeal, 350 parts much cheaper and crank is stronger, 283 works best in lighter car and half ton/short truck where the RPM's can be kept up.

I had a friend years ago with a`77 K/30,38" Mudders,4spd,and 283.That thing ran like a raped-ape.He ran circles around my other buddies F250 w/400.
You`ll never see the power "and" economy in a 350 that can be had from a baby V8.283s are underestimated/rated IMHO.They were used in medium duty trucks you know.
