Married Build

I bought this truck back in April of 2014, it was an all original one owner 1988 C1500. It came with a 305/auto, no tilt steering, decent air conditioning, and only 116k miles. Now I was only 21 when I brought this truck and well some of my previous decisions were not good at all. Well fast forward 6 years later and now Im married with 2 kids and calmed down quite a bit.

Well my first plan of action is to start saving for a new transmission and start work on the interior. Im currently on the 4th 700R4 in this truck. Im tired of it and will be going back with a new TH350. The interior is mixed match, door panels need to be re-skinned, floor panels are slightly rusted, and all the weather stripping needs to be replaced.

Ill be back with more of an update this coming weekend, so here are some before and current pics of the truck.

I got out there today cause the transmission didnt feel right. It had a very soft shift and would slip when shifting into overdrive. Apparently the TV cable wiggled out of the bracket and was only held in by the top part of the clip. Got that fixed and now the truck feels a lot better. Going to get out there this weekend and strip some more of the floor boards. Does anyone have a good recommendation for what I should use as a coating? I was thinking chassis saver but Im open for ideas.

Got some work done today. Most of the passenger side floor board is stripped down, just needs to be cleaned and primed. I got rained out today and had to throw everything back in the cab so I didnt get a good picture but here it is. Ill try to get better pics when the sun comes back out. My 3 year old wanted to drive while I was taking the bolts out of the seat so I let her have some fun.

On a side note, what is a good image hosting site? Im uploading these as attachments and I cant rotate the pics.

Rain let up and blue skys came back out so I got the passenger side primered today. Ill get it painted tomorrow, got to let the primer dry for 24hrs before top coat. Next weekend Ill tackle the drivers side. Im ready to get these floors done so I can get the insulation and carpet put back in.

BTW, what is a good insulation that is decently cheap to use? Someone please help me with this.

Wow, been awhile and lots have changed since I last posted. I still got the truck, looks a lot different now. Cant really call this the married build anymore considering I'm now divorced. I got plenty of pics to upload but I forgot how to do that here..once i figure that out I'll post them up.

Since my divorce I have welded in a roll pan, shaved the tailgate, shaved the stake pockets, and now I am working on smoothing parts of the firewall.

Hope the divorce was not caused by the truck,My friend got divorced last year when his wife said," you spend more time with that truck than me,he said the truck doesn't bit&h,doesn't care how many beers he has while with his truck, and nobody else drives his truck! The wife was fooling around on him!Hope all is well and watching your build!

We divorced cause she had someone else on the side. Oh well, I still got my truck and since we've been split I've had more money to work on it. So I count it as a win.
I also lowered it 3/4.

Curious, what do yall think of my homemade little trailer.

Re: Married Build

Trailer looks good, so does truck. Isn't that a tad big of a motor for that small a trailer? ;)

Needed a way to move the motor out of the garage to a shed in the back yard. Had the steel tubing laying around, 2 cheap wheels from harbor freight, and bam...surprisingly though it does hold the weight of the engine and the engine hoist at the same time. Pretty useful little trailer, took me about 3 days to weld it up.

Glad you still have the truck. It will be cool to watch as you get the chance to build it how you want it.
