Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

Paid, you can just send them raw steel

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

You asked for a powder coated booster bracket and hydroboost mounting plate, that is what I billed you for, that is what you paid for and that is what I shipped to you today. Do you not want powder coated now?

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

Captainfab.... Is there a reason you make the adaptor bracket that moves the assembly out from the firewall and not just a single flat plate?

Captainfab 05-25-2015 11:54 AM

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

Yes there are a couple reasons. One is so that you do not have to cut and drill your firewall to accept the hydroboost unit. The center hole would have to be enlarged a bit, plus 4 more holes drilled into the firewall. And who knows where they will come out on the inside. Secondly with the use of my booster brackets, all the factory holes are used which properly secure the vacuum booster or hydroboost and master cylinder to the pedal bracket as GM designed it to be. This ensures that when you have to stand on the brakes, you get the full function of the brakes with no deflection in the firewall.

I replied to your PM. I sold my last one 2 days ago. I should have some more in a couple weeks.

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

Hey Captian,
I'm doing an astro van hydro boost swap into my 71' chevy truck and I'm needing your mounting plate but I want to mount the plate directly to the studs coming out of the firewall. I'll have to enlarge the hole but the only issue I forsee is the factory studs are offset to the hole in the firewall. Is there anyway you could fab up one of the with the center keyed hole offset lower on the plate. I don't need the mounting holes punched and raw steel is fine.
Thanks, Curt

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

I could do that but it will take a couple weeks. It will take a few days to get it drawn up, and the laser cutting is a week out. The cost of a custom one off part will cost more than my regular production parts. None of the holes are punched, everything is CNC laser cut. So adding the holes is no more than a few mouse clicks.

Awesome! I can send you a template made out of 1/16 flat and some measurements of what I'm needing if that's the easiest way of going about this. I'll pm my contact info. Thanks:metal:

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

I know what you are wanting and I already have all the measurements I need on my work computer. It's just a matter of combining 2 drawings and having one cut.

Sounds like you already got everything set for what I'm needing. Let's go ahead and make it when you get some time. Send me your paypal info and if you need a down payment on the custom work. Thanks

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

I made some progress on your custom hydroboost plate today. I'll try and get an order put together tomorrow. It really isn't feasible to order just one piece, so I need to see what else I can order along with your plate.

Captianfab I need one of your hydro boost plates like you are making for CURTB1971 ( Plain steel )

Captainfab 09-05-2015 12:50 AM

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

I guess it's a good thing I didn't get time to plane a laser cutting order today. You do realize that this will only work with a '67-'72. I see a '64-'66 in your Avatar.

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

The 66 has a 70 power brake unit installed 20 years ago so your plate should use the same mounting.

Captainfab 09-05-2015 11:34 PM

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

OK, just as long as you understand that it won't be bolted up correctly to your '66's firewall and pedal bracket.
