I learned about pavlovian extinction. Thanks!

I think the first K/5 kit AMT did was a Jimmy, and they didn't change the bumper. I don't know why, since they had to use a different grille. They were very accurate replicas for the most part, back in the day. It's nice to see these kits reproduced. I could never bust into my vintage kits

That's ok, I saw the title and went no further. Would it be a worthwhile read? I'm totally into the whole collapse of all things as we know it thing, can't wait. I have my flashlight and spare batteries ready

I just ordered two of these from a local hobby shop. I haven't bought a plastic model kit in years. Surprised the heck out of me how much they are now. But it didn't stop me from buying them ;)

LOL You guys have no idea how the hobby has become expensive. You should price a Tamiya, or Fujimi kit.

Please post pictures of the contents!

Although I believe the dollar does play a part in price increases. I think it has more to do with business's trying to increase their bottom line. All companies big and small seem to think that they need to increase profits by triple digits year over year. Dollar fluctuates 30% and prices go up 70-100%. Doesn't really correlate.

I think this fact alone is gonna slowly kill all of these hobbies. It's just gonna become too damn expensive. Sorry for the rant.

They have those at the Hobby Lobby here. Wife got me one for X-Mas.....It was a good present since I now have a real 72 4X4 Blazer.

About prices, model companies have to license the names too, so that cost is factored in.

Good to know Hobby Lobby has them. Need to find a coupon.

true, this has become an extra cost, & it aint small. any part with a name brand (body, tires, carbs-holleys, etc) pretty much has to be licensed now-a-days...one kit of a camaro can have a gm license for the body, goodyear license for the tires, another for say moroso valve covers, that camaro kit is getting expensive now...or, what the model company's do now is this, which is pretty boring... goodyear is from early '90's kit, no name goodyears are from recent Revell snowplow truck. same tire, just more plain now....

you would think they would'nt mind representations of their stuff on models, it most certainly does'nt cut into their 1:1 sales at all, hell they used to hand them out at the dealership

I know right? I remember an after market company, now out of business, American Satco, had awesome tires. For those of us into models, when you see it, buy it! That's why I have at least 80 kits, and lots of aftermarket goodies, in my collection.

dieseldawg142 04-02-2016 12:37 PM

Re: AMT Chevy Blazer 'Crew Chief' 1:25 kit

yeah, Satco's WERE excellent tires. priced out the odd ones that show up on fleabay lately? seems $35-40 is the norm now....
BNL resin & Scenes Unlimited picked up their molds though & make some really nice resin & rubber swamps

Re: AMT Chevy Blazer 'Crew Chief' 1:25 kit

Just checked my Hobby Lobby, no Blazer in stock. They do have the '65 Chevy step side. Price is full retail, must find coupon. LOL They also have the Piranha 'Super Spy Car' for almost $30, Squadron showed $21.74 (add shipping).

Re: AMT Chevy Blazer 'Crew Chief' 1:25 kit

Got my kit from the Desert Scale Classic contest swap meet! $20.
I see several brands listed for the license routine, and it's popped in China.
Do Blazers really have the gas tanks like this?

dieseldawg142 04-11-2016 09:08 PM

Re: AMT Chevy Blazer 'Crew Chief' 1:25 kit

if your talkin' bout the chrome one, no. the tank at the back of the frame is the correct one. they prob threw the chrome one in cause....it's a crew chief i guess...
