Ididit steering column

Has anyone fit a Ididit steering column to a 62 truck?

Ive was planning on using the existing fixing point just under the steering wheel but that doesn't work very well as it means the indicator stalk is pointing almost straight up. Also there is now lower mount. Now I do have a means to provide a mount there but I was wondering what others have done.

I used the retro fit IDIDIT. Goes in using dash and firewall mount in engine bay. Now they have two lengths... steering box or rack and pinion. See my build page for pics. The factory wheel will not fit these columns.

Many thanks for the reply. I'll have a look at your build page.

I thought I had it sussed yesterday but Im not happy with it. Going to have a look tonight and see what I can come up with.

Found a good video on YouTube but the existing mount under the dash is very different. I guess the video shows a post 62 truck.

One way or another I'll find a solution.

Green arrows (4) bolts colum bracket and ebrake handle mount. Blue (2) to colum adjustable nuts. So disconnect engine bay mount then three bolts for e-brake handle 4(green) bolts to under dash, then bracket(2 blue) and done. The harness has to be wired in.

The pictures really help especially the one with the 2 blue arrows as that's where my main issue is. In your picture the steelwork is rounded to match the column. On my truck its more of a right angle.

However, I had a look tonight and I can slot the holes and if I can find some longer 5/16x24 bolts (Not so easy over here. Everything in my garage that didn't come off the C10 is metric), I can make it fit.

BTW double thanks because at least I now know how the parking brake fits - mine came with out one but I managed to get the handle. I just need to find or make the various linkages as they were all missing as well.

The Factory Assembly Instruction Manual comes in handy.

Never seen that manual before. Would have been so handy so many times!

I'll see if I can get a copy over here. If not I'll order one from the US.

LMC has it on a CD, Shipping to you might be a lot cheaper as manual is big and Heavy! Check it out on their Web Site.
