15” wheels and drop spindles

1972 c10. I have 15”x8” truck ralleys with 4” back spacing. Will they clear a stock lower control arm with a drop spindle?

I have a similar setup with CPP 2-1/2" drop spindles and 15x8 rally wheels. I've read more than one report where people have had to work the end of the lower control arm some to clear their wheels but I am guessing they are running a wider wheel with more backspacing. Mine cleared just fine.

I haven't seen any 1 1/2" drop spindles. Everything I've seen is 2 1/2" or 3". I'll have to check out CPP. Thanks!

Sorry, poor proofreading on my part. 2-1/2" drop spindles installed.

I've read threads where some had issues with CPP but I ordered all my stuff through Summit and it all fit together fine. Have driven this truck over 2000 miles now with this setup.

Re: 15” wheels and drop spindles

Wheels w/deeper back-spacing typically require trimming the lower A-arm 'rain-gutter' near the BJ location. I recall 4" being the max BS allowed so you should be fine. At worst, some slight trimming is usually all that's required.

Some will state that it's only when using smaller diameter wheels & there won't be issues w/larger diameter stuff (17"+) but that is not a black/white statement as it all depends on the amount of back-spacing. I ran 18x8 wheels up front w/5.25"BS & had to trim the rain-gutter. The larger diameter wheels just extend the distance of the rain-gutter area that needs to be trimmed.

That great, your setup has plenty of clearance. Thanks for the photos!

Thanks Scoti, I’ve read a lot of your posts when I’ve been researching suspension drops. You know your stuff. I’m setting up my 72 lwb c10 to be able to pull an open trailer when needed, but primarily to be used as a driver. I want to reduce the gap between the tires and the fenders. I went real mild on the springs. 1” front and 2” rear. I will also be going from 28” to 31” tires.
Just wanted to check on 15” and spindles now that I know what my backspace is. Thanks!

I had the box off to clean and paint the box and frame. I got the box back on with the 2” drop springs. It sits way better already. The taller tires will look even better. I haven’t done the front springs yet. It’s sitting way high.
