Well time to start working on my new project. I think it is a pretty good find for $400. Completely solid with no big rust issues. I do like that it is the 5 window also. No motor and I have the bed. I do have a fresh 305 that I plan on putting in it as well. Other than that, I keep looking over threads for other ideas. Would like it to be a good driver someday.

Just like most, cost is the key. I want to switch to modern rear end, 5 lug and put a mustang 2 front end in it. That seems to be the most reasonable priced right now. Also really want to drop it about 3-4 inches.

Here is a pic of the completely fresh 305 with new ceramic coated corvette headers I purchased from a friend of mine. His dad decided he wanted more power after rebuild so I bought it for $500. Not to bad for me.

Sounds like you have a good plan for a decent driver.A fresh ready to go 305 for 500 green works pretty well. I don't think I would buy a 305 core motor and spend the money to have it built but this works well for your plans for the truck.

Craigslist is also great. I've managed to get some amazing deals, anything from 1 stock transmission for $10 to a torn apart 327 for $75.

Well just getting started and here is my latest finds courtesy of craigslist. Picked up this set of wheels and tires today for $150. Yes for the set of 4. Older guy had them on his F150 and bought new ones. Even if I use them just during build I am sure I can sell them for more than the $150. I was in the right place at the right time. Also picked up this set of 2008 Impala SS leather seats from a local shop for $200. Not too bad. Front end should be here Friday and I will continue to update on the progress, of course sharing pics along the way.

Well moved it back into the main garage today and started deconstruction. Removed fenders and getting ready to start on front end conversion. New parts should be here next week. Time to have fun. Good thing is this truck is solid. I do not have to replace any metal. That is a bonus. :two:
Yes, that is my 68 Mustang in the backround. I spent 4+ years doing that one. I like to say you can never have too many toys. Wish my wife would agree with that one. Haha. |

Well the front end is off now to start on the front suspension. I was surprised at how easy the front came off. Sure hope the rest continues to go smooth.
