73 and up axles in a 71

Hey guys I've tried searching but I cant seem to find the answer anywhere. I've got a 71 k20 with a big hub dana 44 I broke a front P/S axle shaft, I have a 73 shaft with the 5-760 u joint all brand new I know the length and spline count are the same but I'm having a problem is the spindle seal the new shaft has a larger seal retainer (slinger) than the old one. Is there anyone on here running newer axles in their big hub dana 44 and if so what seal are you using for the spindle at the back where the axle comes through?
Any help is appreciated thanks.

The newer style has a bigger diameter seal retainer on it it uses a different type of seal, its 2 pieces of rubber and a plastic washer P/N 706527X. The old style just used a regular seal I cant seem to find the P/N for that.

I'm running the later model axle shafts in a '71 K20. X2 on P/N 706527X, the slinger should be p/n 36364.

Awesome Have you been wheeling with it yet just wondering if it seals up good and tight.

Ha ha, it's on year 4 of a 30 year resto! No, but it went together well, I foresee no issues with it. Tried to locate some assembly pics but this is all I could find:
(one stub is stock, the other is Yukon)
