'70 gas pedal conversion

I didn't even know this was an issue until I bought my '70. The gas pedal started annoying me right away, figured I'd just swap in the setup from my '72 parts truck. Oh, wait a minute....

I've seen the kit someone sells here, as wells as the low-buck homebuilts. My idea was to just cut the lower portion of the rods and weld the '72 part on. I could even modify it a bit just to make sure it is comfortable--maybe lengthen it just a hair. I think I would rather keep the mechanical linkage intact, mainly because I don't want to cut and drill. The cable is perfect for engine swaps and applications where frame twist might be a factor, but none of those will ever be a factor for my truck.

Anybody tried the grafting technique? Any other input?

Re: '70 gas pedal conversion

I added an offy intake with langdons dual car set up on my inline 250. I needed to re-shape the 70's stock scc. pedal and added a cable instead of mechanical linkage. I just finished the install a few days ago and its working well. With a cut off wheel and a hot torch it worked out well. I'll try to post a pic.
