Update removed most of the decals and installed some 20"wheels on Pirelli P Zero 245/45/20 & 275/40/20s for now.

that is too cool.

Re: 1972 GMC 1500 Value-Van
Most mechanical parts are the same conventional trucks. They are designated as P series.
IE P-10, P20, P30. Chev. & GMC are the same except the emblems. Get body parts from www.millsupply.com That is a Union City steel body. |

Re: 1972 GMC 1500 Value-Van
I like it. I had a chance to buy one here a few years ago but decided against it since I had too many irons in the fire. And, at my age, it's getting harder to work on these old trucks like I used to.
My plan would have been to restore it on the outside and fix up the inside with some amenities for use at local area shows. Also for just cruising around town with it. What are your plans for it? |
Re: 1972 GMC 1500 Value-Van
Itl be a cruzer around town maybe hit the Local Pomona Antique Swapmeet once a month sell some chevy parts.

Re: 1972 GMC 1500 Value-Van
That is WAY too cool. Vintage logo even!? I've always wanted a P10.
I believe the wheelbase is even shorter than a K5? Driveline/suspension parts should be in common with our C10's. You gotta drop it! :metal: |
Re: 1972 GMC 1500 Value-Van

Re: 1972 GMC 1500 Value-Van
yeah, the van was what I was looking for. My grandfather had one for years that he used for misc. handy-man jobs. If I knew who currently owned it I'd try and track them down to see about buying it. I don't know why, but these old box vans are just so cool to me.

Interesting....My 1969 GMC 1500 Value Van has a sliding drivers door and the small barn doors. I wonder if they could be ordered either way?? |
Re: 1972 GMC 1500 Value-Van
That's definitely a cool van. I'm surprised that the Boyd van is so underdone. Boyd was famous for his stances and this one seems stock. It must have been something they used when they didn't want to be noticed. I think you have a really cool project here. I would lower it with bags so you can change stances on the fly. With those wheels it changes the entire look of the van. Good luck with this, I can't wait to see your progress.

I miss the era when most all companies had cool paint schemes on their trucks, today, most are generic white .

Re: 1972 GMC 1500 Value-Van
I'm surprised no one has asked about any ice cream? Ha ha I want some. Sweet find. The school district around my area has tons of 67-72 vans that they still use. See them all the time cruising around.
