Re: chopped x member!

it was an easy swap, the steering issues are the only real prob, i may swap to a rack setup anyway.

Re: chopped x member!

did you swap the crossmember and just raise the engine up with a hoist? Kick azz burb, i'll be tearing into mine soon.:metal:

justpball 01-13-2010 01:03 AM

Re: chopped x member!

You do not have to remove the engine at all, if you look at the frame mounts for the engine, there are two bolts on the top of the frame leave those hooked up and you can remove the x member, you just remove the bolts from the bottom of the bracket that bolts to the x member and when you slide the member back in the holes should line back up.... I had to drill my back 2 out just a little.

Re: chopped x member!

Cool thanks, I'm just racking my brain about what to do, so far what I have going on is gonna be...

adjustable behind the axle bag mounts with top cross bar mounts.

4 link with the top bars attached to the frame not a cross member and the bottom bars mounted in the exsisting front perches.

the front...

after seeing what you have I think I will go that route...LOL

thank for the inspiration!

Re: chopped x member!

thanks for the pictures.i've got one of Nates Dropmembers and im gonna attempt it with the motor in. gonna do the same thing by leaving the original motor mounts in untill ive got the old crossmember ready to come out then hook up the engine hoist to raise the motor enough to get the DM and then the new motor mounts in. only thing is i'll be doing it on jackstands. Your burb has realy given me the inspiaration to get into my burb again and get it on the road:bann:
