Can a person buy these?
Here are my stepside tailgate chains. I noticed one has part of the bolt broken off.
Are these pieces still made? I assume I could fab up one if I needed to. Would I just cut a bit out of the last chain link, replace with a new "bolt piece," and then weld up the cut link? http://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/...pshux2hv4o.jpg |

Re: Can a person buy these?
You know, on second thought, I think I can fix this. I can weld a bit, my dad is an incredible welder, and I have access to a welding shop at a welding school.
Why couldn't I just cut the rest of the threaded portion off and weld on a new bolt? I'll ask my welding instructor. |
Re: Can a person buy these?
that should be easy enough. use a bit of threaded rod...

Fits every stepside from 54-87. Brand new zinc plated. And you don't have to deal with the LMC people.
http://www.classicparts.com/1954-87-.../#.Vy9CAjArLIU $19.95 for the pair, from a professional parts place. |
Re: Can a person buy these?
me i'd cut off the old end then drill and tap and inbstall a piece of threaded rod and use for 25years or so till I got around to replacing it
