Headbolt heater removal?

My 67 250 6 cylinder has a Freeman head bolt engine heater installed, that I would like to remove.

I assume it was put in by removing 1 bolt and installing the heater. Would I be ok removing it and replacing it with a head bolt as long as I torqued it ?

Never heard of it. It should be OK, as mentioned.

Yes interesting, would like to see what they did to pass thru the valve cover. I've heard of the heated oil dip stick, but not a head bolt.

I always wondered why my father in law called block heaters head bolt heaters. He grew up in a small town just west of grandforks ND around the time these would have been popular. I’ve never seen one but it’d be cool to have one.

That link I posted to its history only shows a flathead engine application. It would be interesting to see how it was done on an OHV engine with all the head bolts inside the valve cover.
