Tried 20's on Green Monster
I was browsing for wheels and I came across the same Weld Racing Super Single II wheel I have on my Blazer but in a 20" diameter. I currently run tiny 15" diameter wheels and thought the 20's would be a nice change since my buddies 2005 Dodge Ram looks so nice with stock 20's. So I photoshopped the 20 inch wheels on my Blazer. I'm not too impressed with how it looks. What do you think?

JMHO 15's, That truck is just way to nice to fool with... J.

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
Good. I bought a 15 inch spare to mount inside with a 33" BF Goodrich Mud Terrain. I think it will look nice and meaty in there. I was getting worried that I should have upgraded from a 15" and replaced all the wheels.

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
I think you should go with the 20's and sell me you're 15's! just kidding;)
The 20's look hideous on there. |
Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
There was that black Jimmy with the 20's on the board for a short period. It actually looked pretty good. I think you're truck is just too nice to mess with though.

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
Mine has / had a set of 20s on it. Selling them. Way too bling bling for me. Dropping to a 16" wheel.

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
The 20's do look tacky. 17's look nice, see below. I figured the 15's are starting to look dated since big wheels are the in thing. The 17's don't look good enough to replace the 15's though.

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
Your truck is perfect as is, Leave the 15's. Does your blazer have factory air, If it does its my dream blazer.

don't touch a thing....

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
i think the 20's in the pic look funny because the tire isnt big enough
|
Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
I don't like the 20's unless you're going to run a bigger tire. I've got 17's on mine with 35 and I think it sprits the difference nicely.

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
Yes, my Blazer has working factory AC.
David, What size tire are your running and how much lift. I thought about going to a 35 inch tire but I barely have enough room for my 33 inch tires. I refuse to cut the fenders for bigger tires. I wonder if replacing the body mounts will give me a little height. |
Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
David - that's the one I was talking about. It's the first lifted Blazer/Jimmy I've seen with big rims that I liked. Did you end up selling it?

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
Don't understand, those wheels and tires look awesome on his Jimmy. Maybe its the spokes as opposed to all the chrome on the Welds. Or maybe the height

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
In a word: DON'T!
 But thanks for asking for our opinions. ;) |
Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
Ultimately of course, it's whatever blows your skirt up but, I'm with the majority so far...Don't change a thing, it looks great as it

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
Hey Green Monster, if you do get new wheels, are you going to send the updated photos to the ebay scammer who's been using the photos of your truck?

It's all about perspective on the 20s. Here's mine with the dubs...but they're mounted on a 39.5 inch tire. The sidewall to rim ratio looks right, but it's just too much tire and rim for me. They're the work of the previous owner. http://images.costcophotocenter.com/...3A%3B272ot1lsi |
Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
Bouncy - I did end up selling it to a Chevy dealer in Milford, Mass. I hated to do it, but he wanted it more than I did and there is a lot of iron out there. Thanks for liking it, not many die hards did.
Monster - The tires were MT 305/50X20's and it had a 4" lift on springs. They barely cleared. |
Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
Also guys, I almost forgot. I think I used 1.5" or 2" adaptors that I had to turn down some to make those wheels work with the offset. Might not be the safest setup to run down the highway since the wheel/tire combo weighs like 50lbs each I think. But mine was a show truck, maybe that's why I didn't mind selling it too much.

I'd leave it the way it is. IMO the big wheels are the "in thing" on newer vehicles, not ours. Although on AJ's the 20's with 39's looks a bit more proportional than my 15" wheel / 39.5" tire combo on one of my previous K5's. But to each there own.

Re: Tried 20's on Green Monster
Green Monster, if you are considering 20's in that style of wheel I would say no. If you are considering a spoke wheel, such as David's, I think it could set it off. I like the 15's though as well. I think the ps'd 20's look funny due to the sidewall height. With a larger tire it would look sweet. Maybe Nitto's.... :D
Good luck with the decision, your truck will look great either way. |
