Highest MSRP for a 67-72
Just saw a loaded '72 K20 super on ebay that had the original window sticker with a list price of $6336 (which was a lot in '72). Was wondering if anyone has seen a higher list price on our trucks when new- was 7K possible? Thanks, Kirk

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
Man that's a lot, I'm wondering if he had a original type sticker remade with more options on it? My 72 super isn't crazy optioned or 4wd, but, was like 3,300 give or take. That just seems really high to me . Although I could be totally wrong

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
Do you have a link to the eBay truck! I would like to see that sticker.

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
Sounds too high to me also. A nicely optioned Corvette stickered in that price range.

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
Sticker says Bob's Chevrolet, his seller name also has Bob in it. Very nice truck though!

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
i'd be curious to see the lowest price as well i'm pretty sure 3 of my 4 trucks would have been at the bottom of the list :-(

2013 Truck of the Year (ToTY) - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network. This '66 K20 was over $4,400 list- sorry I don't know how to link

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
Beautiful truck! I clicked the link and first thing I saw was C10 this, C20 that, and nothing about a K anything. Then I see "we" this and "we" that and notice the listing states it's being sold by private owner. The private owner would know it's a K/20. I don't recall these trucks costing that much in '72. It seems to me somewhere in the $4,500-5k range was top of the line. MSPR for a no option K/20 Fleetside V8 was $3927 in '71, I know that. So, it could be possible. I'd have to do the math with all the options

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
Out of curiosity, I googled a calculator
$6336 in 1972 comes to $36,198.75 in 2015 $2,680.90 comes to $15,316.48 $2575 comes to $14,711.45 Can you even buy a new vehicle for $14k? |

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
According to his price sheet, the truck was 3700 and the options were 2274. That's pretty whacked.

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
That comes out to $12,991.78 in options....including the $714.14 tape player...
Sorry, I was having fun with the inflation calculator.... |

...and our nice 2 bedroom apartment in southern California was $125/month in 1968... and the new 3 bedroom ranch house we were buying there when I got transferred in 1972 was $29,500.... and premium gas was 39.9 cents per gallon... and our new 1969 Chevy 3/4 ton truck with CST package, A/C, 350, TH400, bucket seats, etc. stickered between $4100 and $4200. We paid $3425. No way was that truck $6336! |

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
I know $6336 list sounds high but why would someone create a fake window sticker? A fake SPID I understand (this trucks SPID looks correct to me). The only thing on the sticker that looks crazy to me is the tire pricing. Does anyone have a dealer pricing sheet from '72? It would be interesting to be able to price out what a specific truck would have listed for back in the day. (I do realize that nobody paid list price). Thanks, Kirk

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
Perhaps somebody can educate me. For starters, the spid and "window sticker" both say it has a 350cid. Fender badge and valve covers show it as a 402. Secondly, Air compressor doesn't look like an original to me, not that it couldn't have been replaced over the years. Third, I thought that though the buckets were optioned, the vinyl was standard. Houndstooth would have given you another line on the spid. Vinyl buckets are a n/c on the "window sticker"
I think the "window sticker" is meant to be a dealer's estimate of a special ordered truck. |
Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
You couldn't get houndstooth buckets back then. Just scroll vinyl

Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
I'm not clear on the listing of only three optional tires, and like previously mentioned, at near today's prices, either. Where does the optioned tool storage box come in at?
Nice truck though. |
Re: Highest MSRP for a 67-72
I've had '72 K/20s with more options than this one. Never occurred to me they would have cost so much new. then again, never gave it a thought. This is why I tell all the BBC SWB Cheyenne Super guys the Cheyenne Super K/20 was the top-of-the-line.

I do have the '71 price list, so can't scrutinize prices 100%. But, just glancing over base prices and a good bit of options the prices are about right. In fact, many are shown a buck or two cheaper than MSRP in '71. It seems hard to believe, but now I'm thinking it adds up. Quote:
