Who's running the stainless ventshades?
Just curious who is running these and if you like them. How easy were they to mount and do you have any pics of how they mounted?

Re: Who's running the stainless ventshades?
No pics but yes on my 69. Had them for more than 10 years. They just clip in under the weather stripping at the top of the window channel. I believe 4 springy type clips. Takes about 5 min and a beer per door. I like leaving my window down a few inches during the summer heat when parked.

Re: Who's running the stainless ventshades?
I have them on my truck and really like them. First of all, I like the look of the truck better with them on, but more importantly I don't have AC in my truck so the windows are pretty much always down and it helps to have the shades to keep the rain, etc. out. I've also noticed that they help to block the sun through the window as well.
They attach with black metal clips (4-5 per door) that seat under the window rubber along the top of the door. It's a super easy installation and you can take them off and put them back on at will without damaging the truck. Here's a for sale post that shows the clips: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ght=vent+clips Just also fyi in case you didn't know, Ventshades are an aftermarket product that are still being sold new by Lund International, so you can buy them new pretty much anywhere. You can also just get new clips if you need them directly from the manufacturer. Hope that helps. |

I've probably had them on every truck I've had. They allow the window to be open a bit while it's raining, windows venting while parked in the heat, and drip edge for an open window. They aren't a huge change and hardly noticeable

i have them on my truck and love them as well. i'm eliminating anything chrome externally so i'm gonna have my powdercoated black. i like being able to leave the windows dropped just a tad during the summer.

Re: Who's running the stainless ventshades?
Just curious - the under surface of these have a green matte finish. These weren't designed to be painted were they?
|
Re: Who's running the stainless ventshades?
No,they are polished stainless. I had some powder coated and I sandblasted them first. I also took some and just scuffed them up with coarse paper, then sprayed black bed liner on them for my '85 Jimmy. The ones on my '72 I painted the back side with alumna blast because the green was flaking off.

Re: Who's running the stainless ventshades?
I've had them on 4 of the 5 67-72's I've had. They should be standard equipment if you ask me.

Re: Who's running the stainless ventshades?
I had them on the 72 for years and then I took them off. But I was wondering if I should put them back on. This settles that question.

I've got them on both of my 3/4 tons...my CST has one piece windows or I'd have them on it too....:)
Kind of hard to see them in the picture. |
Re: Who's running the stainless ventshades?
Just received a set to install in my 72 K1500 from PartsTrain.com, $28.46 plus ship ( http://www.partstrain.com/store/deta...location=Front ) and made in USA. Model #12058. Didn't come with the wood block to install the clips like they used to but I can manage.
