I have a really nice speedwarning dash out of a 67. I pulled truck home so don't know if gauges work but they look in great shape!I took bezel apart and cleaned and touched up needles. The bezel is in amazing shape with a few light scratches along lower corner in the silver. Can email larger pictures if interested. Wiring harness and buzzer complete. Dial turns indicator just fine but the little black knob is not on it.

No guages
Look at that. Isn't that interesting? A speed warning option without guages---idiot light cheap dash w/expensive add on option...and it really looks good! Hmmmmmmmmmm
|
how exactly does speed warning work? I notice a small white line on the speedo. Do you turn the knob to set that line on a certain mph, and then it buzzes if you go too fast? Can this be adjusted while the truck is moving?

Wonder if they got those for cars?
|
camaros, impalas chevelles, etc had them
|
It was an option for most GM products from around 1960 on. Had a friend who had one on a 61 Buick. It's kind of funny but the few I have seen have been in the older 67-68 trucks and in most cases, it was with the 3 gauge dash!! Wierd~~~~Huck:)

Here's a picture of one that just sold on Ebay - I think it was out of a 68 GMC. Someone posted in another thread about the speedwarnings (Rod i believe) that the last year for the speedwarning in our trucks was 69 I believe. I guess with the factory cruise control option there was no longer a real need for the speedwarning. And yes - the speedwarning option was available in just about every GM vehicle up through about the'69 model year.

I don't think it was really uncommon for speed warnings to be included with idiot light dashes. Keep in mind this option was far more popular in fleet vehicles, so it's entirely plausible that the company would order idiot light dashes with speed warnings to save $10 or so. Speed warning would be effective equipment in environments where maintaining a "safe" speed was important - like airports, mines, etc. Remember the "bean counter" mentality is at work here.
$200 sounds like a deal to me. |
Probably already sold but if not put me in line for it.
