1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

Here is my latest project, I thought you guys might like to follow along. I'll post more pics as we make more progress. I'm an old Camaro guy but I have always loved these trucks. Any year, there's just nothing like them. Camaros are fun too and I have restored several but they're just getting so expensive to build and 'numbers oriented' I got out of them. I'm just so tired of building my car the way it's supposed to be .. not how I want it to be, then having to listen to people tell me I'm wrong for building it that way. It takes all the fun out of it. Build it your way, what you like and what suits your personality. Bagged, or stock. I like them all. :metal:

Check this one out. Frame off project, I bought it off a guy in KY. He just lost intrest in it apparently. This is my first C10 build but I am having a lot of fun with it already. All the difficult stuff is already done. the frame has been blasted and painted nicely, new cab corners, rockers, and mounts. The firewall has been cleaned up, floors fixed where necessary, etc. They did a very nice job with it. It is a great start to what will hopefully end up a nice old truck. I plan to paint it myself.

69 date coded 396/350
Cleaned and .030 over
10.5:1
69 dated '290' heads
Lunati Bracket Master II cam
MSD HEI
750cfm Holley 3310
Roller tip rockers, studs, guides
Built TH400
2800 stall
73-87 front suspension swap
Re-located gas tank with all new lines

I'm working on changing it over to the 68 style front end. Things are likely to change of course. .. check back if you want.

The 69-72 hood is also for sale if you know of anyone who might want it. Basically new from LMC.

You guys rock. Thanks for all your help.
Chad

The carb on it now is just on there to keep dust out of it. I know that's not a 3310. :)

Made some progress this weekend. The weather is about to turn around in the SE TN area, man, I can't wait for spring.

The Intake & Carb is just sitting on there to keep the dust and stuff out right now. The pass side valve cover will be ok I think, but the driver will need some tweaking to make it work and allow some breathing room. It's just barely touching the firewall. I'll re-shape that area a little and I think it will be fine.

More to come. ..

WOW! Now this is the way I would build my truck (when I get one).:waah:

I am new to the site and have really loved these trucks from back in the day. My dad owned a 1967 longbed, and I can remember helping him change the water pump on that 6 cylinder. Probably my first mechanical repair.

Good luck with that project. I will follow along!

My dad came up with a new center cap design.. check it out. I posted this to the threads for a few days but got a bit nervous when guys mentioned GM licensing, etc. So, I deleted it. I thought it would be ok to post in my build thread just so I could share it with you all. We never intended to build these for resale, we're just playing around to see what it would look like. I really like how it turned out.

Dad has also fitted the headers and dropped in the HEI. It's coming together. Now, if I could just find someone with a 68 RH front fender !

I will be changing the trim rings soon, they just don't sit flush with the wheel and almost makes the tire look too small. Humm.. I guess we'll see what happens.

It might get a nicer set of wheels when I can afford it and after paint..

Just got done dropping my Cab from LWB on SWB doner frame...transfered k-member and posi rear. Fresh urethane cab mounts and t-arm bushings.
Plan to drop 69 427 (from my 67 Camaro - going bigger)
Both are 4spds...
What did you do for a driveshaft? One piece??

Actually, I haven't gotten a drive shaft yet .. good question. Is a one piece better you think? with a BB, would a 2 piece be more venerable? Not sure what I'm going with but I need to figure it out soon.
