quick x member question.

So I've read a bunch about doing the swap but I'm halfway thru and I just wanted to double check whats going on. I have my new cross member up in the frame rails and the upper rear bolt hole lines up. Is that the one that I need to have it bolted up to or do I need to slide it forward? Also I read that that hole needs to be sloted out. But I'm not sure why because a bolt just goes thru it. Thanks for the help.

On my 64 when I put a 71 cross member in, The holes I needed to move were the two lower holes on the sides which have the bolts from the inside of the frame . All the bolts with nuts lined up. Those two only needed about 1/4 to the rear and 1/4 up. I just used a die grinder. I also used new grade 8 bolts.... just because the originals were 45 years old

So I completely blew it and forgot to measure anything before I pulled it all apart. Does anyone have any measurents from the cab mount to the cross member or any other measurents to make sure I get my crossmember in the right spot.

On my 62 the frame has holes notched out where the upper a-arm studs stick thru. I measured it but dident need to becaues of those holes. At least I hope I dident have to bother with the measurements.

This photo shows where the new holes went on my swap. The upper right is the one that was slotted upward to allow the frame to sit flush on the crossmember.

Okay thanks for the help. I just wasn't sure because I don't think my hole needs to be slotted. Thanks again guys. Hopefully I can get more work done on it soon.
