1972 SWB Cheyenne Super Survivor
 

I bought this vehicle about 3 years ago with the intention of restoring it. Now I am thinking about selling it because I built the identical truck from ground up and want my next project to go in a different direction.

Truck has complete new suspension with ECE 3 1/2"/5" lowering kit, new 255 and 275R60x15's on rallys, new dual exhaust with glass packs, new ECE hidden hitch, new bucket seat covers, 350/350 combo has about 10,000 miles on it. I also have new blue carpet, a new blue S10 GM steering wheel, new upper and lower trim that I am currently restoring (new anodized...not clear coated) and a number of other new or rebuilt parts.

As far as the sheet metal goes. Front clip is very good and could be perfect with very little work. Cab has rust in floor, rockers, I think cab corners are good. Doors need to be replaced. Wing windows are good but cab & windows need all new felt and rubber. All glass is good except windshield needs to be replaced. Chrome trim around windshield and rear window is good and just needs to be polished. Tailgate is essentially a brand new GM. Bumpers are very good driver quality but not show quality.

Lastly, I have a brand new GM front clip that is in primer, I am in the process of purchasing a cab that will be brand new and in primer shortly. I have brand new rebuilt 72 doors with new outer skins and interior that has been blasted and waterproofed. I am willing to part with the new cab, doors and front clip if somebody wants them. All of those parts were blasted prior to bodywork. My sandblaster says the bed can be saved. It had a spray in liner in it when I bought it an I tore it out. Water got up in under the spray in liner and caused some rust issues but my sandblaster said he can save everything but the back two corners by the tailgate. It also looks like it was hit it the left rear corner once and was body filled. I was planning on sandblasting the entire bed and spraying the inside and the bottom with spray in bedliner after the rust was removed. I don't think the floor will be nice enough for smooth paint.

I have a lot of money in this vehicle and am considering selling it. I know the economy sucks and I don't expect to get out of it what I have in it. I also would not hestitate driving anywhere in the US from Denver. It runs really strong. What do you guys think it's worth.....with or without the new clip, new cab and new doors? Thanks for all your opinions.

When restoring a swb project the amount of rust repair in he cab and bed are the most important aspects to me for a quality restoration.Your truck looks nice in the pics but from what you describe you have a very nice restoration project.I would agree around $4000 in this market.That will be a very nice and desirable truck restored but changing cabs,rebuilding the bed and paint are alot of work and expensive unless you do it all and then your time and work are worth money.I bought 2 bb 72s from CA last fall 1 for $2700 and 1 for $1300.The first is a rustfree blue and white bb cheyenne 20 super, tilt, tach,ac posi.I am keeping it stock.the second is a loaded custom 30 deluxe loaded that I am putting on a swb frame.I paid $1200 for a rusty loaded swb cheyenne and $1000 for a perfect swb bed local.I have sold over $1000 dollars worth of extra parts that I didn't need for my build and bought bucket seats,new covers,carpet,rubbers etc.Right now I have about $3500 invested in a blue and white 72 swb cheyenne super bb with bucket seats,tilt,tach loaded.it is disassembled and scattered about my yard and attic but I have a completely rust free body needing no body work.I just have to soda blast and paint it.

Looks nearly identical to mine that I sold last summer. I got almost 10K for it. Trucks with the original 2 tone scheme bring more $$ I have noticed.

I cant believe you guys are shooting that low, That truck should be worth 5-6K at least. I cant belive the prices for 2 tone cheyennes lately

If you have enough confidence in the truck to drive it anywhere in the US, it must be a pretty solid driver with no big drivetrain issues.

Even in today's economy, there are crazy people like us out there that want these trucks. I would say $5K - $6K easy.

I agree with these guys.....this color 2-tone is one of my favorites....I wouldn't put the cab and doors on....it then becomes a project...let the next owner do that if they want...sell the cab, doors, and front clip separately

Bucket seats and console are worth almost half that.

If you'll sell it for $6K I'll drive up this weekend and get it.

Thanks for all your comments and helping me figure out the value of this truck. There are project trucks in the For Sale section that they are asking $5-7k for that are plain jane C10's. I was thinking it might be worth more considering 72 SWB Cheyenne Super survivors don't come up every day for sale let alone one that has all the suspension, transmission and motor re-done. Anyway, for now, I think I'll just keep it in the stable and enjoy driving it. Joel

Yep keep it and drive it. A lot of projects and trucks for sale but that does not mean they are selling.
