Lowered 1996 dually

Hi, new to this area, normally in the 47-59 area. I thought I would share my slow, drive while I build project. It is a crew cab 454, 4l80 truck. It was already lowed when I bought it about 4 months ago. It ran good when I bought it , then it got cold and started to eat parts. That is a whole other story. I love to do sheet metal so I built a custom hood for it. I changed out all the lights on it and went back to the factory stuff. It had projector headlights that were like driving with candles. Gone,I will also do some other custom things like put the belt line in the back of the cab and some other stuff. It drives me nuts that chevy did not put it in. I just bought a full set of eagle alloy 056 20 inch wheels for it. I also have a new black grill, filler panel and lower valance. I also have at trimless front bumper that I had the chrome stripped off. I am going to paint the whole thing black with some kind of graphic, something small.

Looks like a short bed. I think you should take a couple if inches out of the top. That would look good. Buy a lot of work, you already have plenty of that.

1badgmc, thank you

79azc10, it will be slow but I will post them.

Wickid demon, it is a long bed. No chop though. Yes it is a lot of work but it is my own so it is worth it. It was one of those deals you ask the guy how it is and he said everything works great. It did run good when I bought it then went down hill once it got cold. I have it straightened out mostly now. I have always had something custom to drive except for the last 11 years and got the itch again. Plus my 3 kids fit in it great.

Get ready to either widen the rear fenders or narrow a rear end for those eagle wheels to fit. I have a set on my red dually and they won't fit you need fenders at least 2-1/2" wider per side. By the way great truck I love duallys.

LOW1TON, I figured that. Can you post a picture of your truck? I would love to see it with them on.

Nice dually, looks like you're starting with a great truck.

Glad you're not gonna chop it, the only body work I would do is to add the bodyline at the C pillar. Drives me CRAZY that the crew cabs have a discontinuous bodyline, WHY GM?

Good looking truck...

I'm afraid to ask because it'll be something I'll never be able to overlook once I find out but..........

What body line?

What body line?

The upper bodyline along the beltline of the truck. On the c-pillar, behind the rear doors, for some reason GM decided to not have the bodyline there.

Just looked at my extended cab and it has it. Guess its a dually thing.

No, it's a crew cab thing. All extended cabs and regular cabs have the bodyline, but the '92-'00 crew cabs, whether dually or not, came without the bodyline on the c-pillar.

I meant to say CC but my hands didn't type what my brain was telling them.

Good to know.

Re: Lowered 1996 dually

It is so stupid that it is not there. It does bug me. Well I got 4 out of the 6 wheels today. Now I have to get the tires for them. I can not wait to get them on. The rear fenders need to be widened 3" from what I have seen.

Well I ordered my tires and they should be here tomorrow. Hopefully I can get them mounted if they come at a decent time. I now have all my wheels but I am waiting on the lug nuts now.
