Lookin for input on ‘68 side trim

I’m looking for input on those who have used the 3M automotive trim tape to attach their side trim pieces. Specifically, I am looking for the size of tape width-wise and maybe a picture or two if anyone has any of the back side of the trim where they affixed the tape. Thanks so much. Ned

I don't have any pics of the process, but I used this tape on my truck and I am very happy with it. You might have to double or triple it up in areas to keep it hidden within the trim and still have it be able to reach the body of the truck, but it works well, and It sure does beat drilling holes if you don't have the original holes in the body any longer.

I just put a few pieces of the tape every 8-10 inches, didn't need to tape the whole thing.

Thank you! Another member did his trim the same way on his '68 - and it worked well. I appreciate the information. This morning I found an old email from him describing what he did in regards to applying the tape. It took a bit, but I was finally able to get a description of the trim backside. All photos show the front only... Ned

I am not sure how well this will work on the 68 specific trim. Since it is aluminum and there is spacing on the back side for the clips That flat part does not sit on the body. I suppose you could build it up some maybe.
I did use the tape on my emblems but I filled the back side with epoxy then taped it on. I did leave the studs for location but couldn't easily get to the back.
Just my thoughts.

I may have to end up drilling it all but looking for options hopefully. The other ‘68 owner put the 3M tape on the back top and bottom of the trim pieces (narrow) and it worked well. I probably won’t know for sure until I pull
The trigger and purchase the trim.
