My 72 Parts truck!!

I started tonight to dissassemble my 72 parts truck YEA ! What I thought might be a fix the cracked frame project ended up in a Hey where is the frame ,extremely rusted from the cab back WOW never seen any thing so bad.So it has turned into strip all good usable parts now.At least now I will get power disk brakes in my 70 !!And maybe the turbo 350 auto instead of my 4 speed. When did they change the transfer lever from the left side to the right side of the hump ? it also looks to be a NP 205 transfer case. Also hoping it is a not a 4:11 rear so I can swap mine to a lesser ratio.I also end up with later model white spoke factory wheels and centercaps.COOL!

1971 Chevrolet 3/4 ton 4x4 lwb fleetside, 355 SB, flat tops, headers, 4 barrel q-jet, HEI, SM465 4 speed manual, NP205 t-case, eaton rear, dana 44 front, 4:10 gears

^complete specs i can think of at this time

Hmm thats wierd my 70 1/2 ton 4x4 is a NP 205 too with a 4 speed. I will have to compare the two when I take the 72 apart to see what the difference is.

hmm...only thing i can figure out is maybe the shape of your shifter, like maybe it is bent to come over farther

Yes It must to come through the floor to the left of the shifter. will look further into this .

If your 72 is a 1/2 ton 350/th350 combo it would have had 3:07 gears from the factory unless optioned with 3:73's. If it's a 3/4 ton, 4:11's were only option. If it's a 307, the standard gears were 3:73 and 4:56 for 1/2 and 3/4 tons.

On the NP205 shifter, the 70's had it coming up dead center in the hump, and the lever is bent towards the driver. 71/72, the lever comes up thru on RH side of hump and is basically straight. 71/72's also had the shift pattern on the knob whereas 70's don't.

Its a 250 six with a TH-350,I see there is only a 3.07 or a 3.73 ratio's in a 4x4 in 72.I believe I will swap my 4.11 for what ever it is ,where is the tag on it anyway ?I have been disassembling for two nights now so far and bagging small parts and labeling them. You were right on the extreme rust on the frame ,it had been repaired under the pass door and way back by the spring mount nothing behind the cab is left.
