Anybody in Portland, OR Willing to Look at a '76 for Me?

Looking for an impartial third party to check out a Craigslist posting for me. I'm interested in truck as a work truck - not restoration project. Would need you to take a good look, drive, and snap some pics. I can pay you for time. If available please send me a PM. Thanks - mark (MD)

OK Jstock85 - here's the link. Anybody know the providence of this particular vehicle? I'm not overly concerned about the title since I already have a titled '76.

Thanks for any thoughts. - mark

Man that dont look bad at all. Im not 4x4 guy but that is strictly just me. I have bought 2 squares in my life so ill give you a couple things i look for:

cab corners for rust
frame for rust
open the doors and lift the floor mats and check for rust
steering gear leaks
power steering leaks
crank it up and listen for knocks or taps from the engine
once it warms up a bit pull the dip stick and smell the oil. If it smells burnt the engine may have suffered from multiple over heats
when driving the truck listen for unusual engine noise
check the brakes
check the electronics, all lights, wipers, blinkers, radio
check the fuse box to be sure a large fuse wasn't plugged into every slot just to get the truck sold

again keep in mind trucks this old will not be symptom free!! this is just a short list of things I've checked for and these are easily fixed. I know you want a work truck and a lot of these and more will exist it just a matter of how much time and money you want to put into it. But from the pictures it looks good man I bought my last one for 2k and it had more visible body damage than that one!

Just want to give a public shout out to 77Shorty - he went and checked out a truck for me and gave me a great assessment. And he did it for no other reason than he was happy to do it. Based on his intel, It was very easy for me to make a decision to keep looking for something that is more in line with my requirements. Testament to the quality of people on this forum! Thanks again, brother! - mark
