Re: Roll cage

I bought the original roll bar from Chris Alston chassis works. The hoop "fit" but that's it.
Be warned that all cage kits made from mild steel will use seamed tubing. It will be .134" thick(which is good) and is perfectly legal. When I built my frame/cage I used .120" DOM tubing which is seamless. The DOM is also very heavy. If I was to do it again I would use Chrome Moly tubing and TIG weld. At the time I only had access to a MIG welder.

Re: Roll cage

I used 2x2 square tubing as out riggers. Plan the location for future stuff, liike exhaust. Also plan the rear down bars to hit the frame rails. One tricky part is the roll bar cross brace. If you put it str8 across the seat will be to far forward. Unless you are small statured you will have to bend the cross tube(where the shoulder harness ties too) to conform with the back of the cab. I'll see if I can find a pic. The reason there are 2 tubes on mne is because the bottom tube is too low...it wouldn't of passed tech, it was easier to leave it then remove it.

nice setup jim. im gonna copy it here in a little while. but i'd like to keep the factory dash, thinking of running the cross bar under it. but it may be more trouble than its worth

Re: Roll cage

mine has the stock dash. you can see pics in my build thread.
