Alternator
I need an alternator because right now I have a bad generator. Can anyone tell me where they got theirs and what amperage? How much they cost? Any idea’s will be appreciated!!

Re: Alternator
Might want to figure out what year vehicle and what engine you have. If a V8, short or long water pump? Then look for a similar engine setup accessory drive.

Re: Alternator
I got mine on Rock Auto. ACDELCO 3342190 - 12SI. 78 amp, 9:00 clock. Search for a 1985 Buick Rivera 5.0L. ~$55 with a $7 core.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...000317&jsn=256 They have a pigtail also for a couple $. There are a bunch of threads and sites on how to wire it. I ran the brown wire that went to the regulator to the #1 connection. This is the exciter wire. I ran a ~16 gauge wire from the #2 connection to the junction on the passenger's fender. This is the voltage reference wire. I ran a 8 gauge wire from the lug to the junction on the passenger's fender. This is the main power feed wire. |
Re: Alternator
You could also run and alternator with a built-in regulator the main thing is what motor you have you also need to change your mounting brackets accordingly

Re: Alternator
The top bolt on the alternator I listed is 10mm x 1.5. I did have to grind the bracket to make to large enough for the bolt.

Re: Alternator
I found this thread with images of my install
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...si#post8331761 Another thing to note. There are kits available to do the conversion so you do not have to manually wire it. Plug and play, easily reversible. I decided to wire it manually to give cleaner wiring. https://hhclassic.com/i-13698966-alt...n-harness.html |
Re: Alternator
