Removing clutch pedal
I just picked up a 72 k20 truck. The PO converted the truck from manual to automatic transmission. The truck currently has a 700r4 transmission. Where the stick shift would normally be there is a Lokar shift kit. Inside the cab the clutch pedal is still there. I was thinking of removing it as it serves no purpose. However the clutch pedal still seems to be hooked up to something. the clutch pedal is on the floor if i try to pick up the pedal there is extreme resistance. almost like there is a vacuum from hydraulic fluid. Can I remove the clutch assembly? Or is this needed by other systems in the truck?

Re: Removing clutch pedal
I have one removed from the truck.
I can get pictures when I get home. Just to show you what you are working with. |
Re: Removing clutch pedal
The PO could have secured the pedal with some form of restraint on the firewall side. Stock it would not have been a hydraulic clutch.

Re: Removing clutch pedal
When I went to auto, I removed mine with a die grinder and cutoff wheel. I fought it for about a hour before that.

Re: Removing clutch pedal
It just unbolts and slides out. Unbolt the pinch clamp on the right side. Pull the pedal stop plate off and pull the pedal all the way up to release the spring then slide it out to the left. Not quite that easy but it will come out.

Re: Removing clutch pedal
I wish I had a clutch pedal in my auto transmission truck. I would connect it to sound off an emergency chicken noise maker up in the dash. You don't know what you got until you lose it.

Here’s a pic of the pedal and what secures it in place. Had mine out while converting to hydraulic. There’s a relatively stiff return spring on the pedal as well

Re: Removing clutch pedal
