New Tx Member with '72 C10 Cheyenne!

Hi guys! I have lurking around for MONTHS and just got registered (thank you Josh) - since the site has had its registration disabled. Real bummer about that spam registrations that caused the lockdown. Hopefully my $25.00 will help get this old vBulletin updated!
So around April I picked up this '72 C10 Cheyenne down the street from me in Buda. I had been looking for a older vehicle, be it a Bronco, Blazer, or Truck. Lucky me I find this '72 C10 Cheyenne on Craigslist! Day one, no less than three neighbors that I hardly talked to stopped and hollered out how much they loved my "new" truck. I already have one guy that every chance he gets asks if I will sell it to him ha (that happen on day 2)! Here are some photos of her! |

That's a nice looking truck! Heck, I'm jealous! Hope to see you around Austin - I think my color works for the area ;-)

Re: New Tx Member with '72 C10 Cheyenne!
anyone know of a Austin, Tx area shop that would do a gas tank relocate? I am not so comfortable trying this myself. I'd like to really have that room behind my seat.

Hi Rich
Glad to have you join up . . . . and, My older sister lives in Austin , now . A very Nice 72 Truck you have , I like those colors . later , jim ps - - - I grew up in Garland ... back in the old days , born in Dallas. But, now staying in Chino Valley . . . . just "staying home" . |
Re: New Tx Member with '72 C10 Cheyenne!
Hey Jim -
Thanks and small world it is - a lot of my family live in Garland (my Dad grew up there)! For a bit I was there before my parents settled in East Texas! Go Garland Owls ;-) |
Re: New Tx Member with '72 C10 Cheyenne!
Yes . . . . Those 'OWLS' . .. . was along time back . . . . 9 kids grew up in Garland , and then I worked all around Garland, Richardson ,
Plano (back when it was "Plain - o" ) . I left back in 1980 , and moved to Kingman - - - not too much there (job - wise) . i grew up around the "Miller RD & Fifth ST area" , and even worked for the City (at one time . . . . should have stay on that job) . I worked at "R O Evens Pontiac" . . . NorthWest Hi-way & Garland Rd ; for a short time . . . . . with the 'old Garland Airport across the road . I sure like your Truck , looks great . . . . . later , jim |

Wow, a very nice GMC truck you found and with split set.
I'm little further down in Texas, Houston area, these old trucks are popular. Mine is a daily driver but very fun driving around. |
Re: New Tx Member with '72 C10 Cheyenne!
Thanks TexasC10 - that was one of the things the PO did to the truck. Compared to him, I completely changed the truck and less than a year too! I am not sure how he was able to have the truck for 5 years and only change the seat and the carb LOL
I had to put off spraying the bed with liner and tint - since I had to deal with the valve seals and transmission leaks after the rebuild these past two weeks. Then I have my numbers matching Qjet Carb out for reburb and performance tweaking. Though I am very excited to go to Wimberley Texas for Coffee & Cars that the 12 Kings Car Club hosts on the 1st Sunday of the month. I even have a application filled out to join! With my smoke and leaks gone I won't be embarrassed about my rebuild on the engine/transmission ;-) |
Re: New Tx Member with '72 C10 Cheyenne!
You are welcome Richard, been drooling over the pictures and nice details.
Sure is a beauty ! |
Re: New Tx Member with '72 C10 Cheyenne!
That is really a beauty. Welcome

Re: New Tx Member with '72 C10 Cheyenne!
Thanks guys! Since I got her last April I have done so much to her. Finally the transmission leaks are gone and I think I might have fixed a fuse that has been randomly blowing tonight due to a flaky turn signal mech.
From the engine/transmission rebuild, R134a swap, tilt upgrade, LEDs upgrade, vapor canister rebuild, side mount spear (with OEM lock), tie downs, radio/speakers, glove lock/matching keys, washer convert, and tach add-on she is all new truck! Oh and a new tailgate too! Oh, oh, I have a numbers matching 72 C10 Qjet out for rebuild too but I am not expecting that to get done until March/April (the guy has a big back log but my carb is inline at Quadrajet Power). Now to get my tint and bed spray liner installed but only once I recover a bit! Getting the valve seals redone and the transmission leaks fixed this week ate all my slush funds away!! And thanks to Andy here on the forums now I want a HomeLink/Compass/Auto Dimming rearview mirror! I'll surely be smiling at the Coffee and Cars on Sunday! |
