This front end design was used up to the late 70's on school bus chassis.Makes you kind of wonder why GM used such short design cycles.Shoud have kept the 67 thru 72 pickup design up to 78. In 79, they should have released the 73 design up around 1990.

Heres some of an Old School Mud-Monster Truck, Cyclops;

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1210/...15c8e33fa3.jpg

The Truck still exhists today, tho the body and frame have been seperated, the current owner of the frame is planning a complete restoration using a comparable body, if he cannot talk the previous owner out of the body, the body is sitting on a 3/4 Frame, just looks weird now.

agreed, but, the guy that had it previously apparently isnt all there, and did that, and kept the body. the current owner of the Frame is out in California and plans on doing a full restoration to how it looked back in the day.

The yellow Tonka is really neat but with that wheel base and that suspension it would have to be a back breaker to ride in.

There could of been many factors. One would guess the sheet metal dies were starting to wear out.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!

The trucks look really cool, but what I like most about the bigger trucks were those LOOOONG stroke V-8's they had in them. I'm sure they had more torque than the earlier diesels did!

I was out in Bullhead City, AZ one time and watched a guy in an early 60's tandem axle dump truck loaded to the moon, go up a hill in second gear, wide open, 10 MPH... slower, slower... then pretty soon grabbing the granny gear and crawling up this road at a whopping 5 MPH. Not impressive, but it sure did sound good!

Shane, you can get most brake stuff at Ogburn truck parts in Ft Worth. Surprisingly, very cheap usually. For suspension, Ft Worth Champion Spring on Henderson.

Man I really need to figure out a way to build one of these some day soon. By figure out I mean I need to finish my Tahoe, my sons F-1 and my next company show truck then it is wide open. Here is the vision (photoshop) I would be going for.
