makes me re-think my drivetrain combo for sure. I have a 2wd Duramax truck that I would love to part out to use for my 72 Super.

According to the article, he claims 30mpg. Yeah right. If you cou get 800 hp and 30 mpg, don't you think everyone would do this. Even though I think his estimate is off, he does good work and it is an awesome truck, and I wouldn't mind having it myself.

Re: '70 C10 duramax

He didnt say he was getting 30mpg while wide open making 800 horses. I have a friend with a built Duramax truck that made 816 and 1300+ tq to the wheels and gets 29 on the highway during normal driving. That diesel stuff is wild. It's amazing the things they can do.

I believe it. Hell, Parish made 1000hp on his turbo 6.0l silverado and was getting mid 20's in mpg. Im sure that duramax c10 is alot lighter than the full size 2500/3500.

Re: '70 C10 duramax

Well maybe I am wrong, it just seemed a little far fetched to me. I drive 70 miles to work one way, and I am tired of driving tiny cars to get over 30 mpg. If you can in fact get 30+ with this set up, I may just have to do it so I can ride in comfort and style.

My Duramax is bone stock except for a power programmer and I get 27 on the highway.

1972SuperCheyenne

Thats good to know, I guess I learn something new every day. I suppose to do a swap like this you would need a complete donor for the computers and wiring. Does anyone know about how much a donor might go for?

Theres a guy in wichita falls that has the complete motor and harness for 4500, i think its pretty low mileage though

Skirkpat 03-25-2009 08:19 PM

Re: '70 C10 duramax

All the Diesel guys exagerate their mileage, The fumes get them high or something, I know I used to be one...LOL...no really it is unbelievable what some tuners do, but as soon as you lay the wood it drops the MPG fast.

Very nice truck, Don't care for the "car" wheels on a Diesel though, maybe a shortbed lowered, just look funny on a BIG RIG to me

Re: '70 C10 duramax

I love how clean this truck is!

As far as the MPG, there has been a lot of press with Jonathan Goodwin (http://www.hlineconversion.com/). The problem that I see is the cost that it takes to get 25-30 MPG when you do a conversion. Seems like you can buy a lot of gas for what they want to do this conversion. But how fun would it be?
