96 ecsb build

Figured id start a build thread and put all my pictures in one place. I picked up a 96 ecsb gmc to build a daily driver out of since I sold my dually and had a ton of parts left over from my copper truck build.

I found this one on craigslist, v6 motor was bad, truck was in pretty nice shape. Interior was was pretty dirty and nasty.

Bought a 95 extended cab that was wrecked hard in the front. Had a good 350 and 4l60, since I didn't want to try and pull a trailer with a v6. Interior was in nice shape minus the leather seats.

Decided to use the beat up escalade front end I had that I ought originally for my copper truck. Finished all the body work and primed.

Found some drop spindles and wheels on craigslist, I was going to paint the wheels black and airbrush the lips like the ones on my copper truck but I just really don't like the wheels. I think im going to get some grey boss 338 wheels

drop sindles and cut the factory springs down, sits pretty good

Still have to adjust the bumper some more, These bumpers are a nightmare to get to fit right. Im going to paint the emblem whenever I figure out the wheel situation.

Re: 96 ecsb build

I wanted black interior in this one since my copper one has almost white interior and it sucks to keep clean.

black suede headliner
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...psgey1lvvy.jpg

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...psdjuxzhno.jpg

escalade console armrest that I wrapped in suede
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...psnrqzmy3e.jpg

also did the door inserts in black suede
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...psrmc3hmme.jpg

I wanted to just dye the dash bcause it would have been so much faster but I couldn't find a dash that wasn't cracked. So I decided to fix the broken dash and smooth and paint it.

There was about a 5 inch long crack on the top

Clean truck. Love these body styles.

I have a set of gloss black 20x8.5 Boss 338's with Nitto 420s, have zero miles on them if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer but I since decided to just use the wheels off my copper truck and repaint them for this one.

No problem. Keep up the work. I'm debating on pulling the dash or getting a replacement cover from LMC. Everybody says it fits great.

Ive used one of those replacement covers in a 80s dually I had and it was horrible. I ordered a dash off of ebay since I couldn't find a non cracked one anywhere around here.

Dashes are easy to pull on these body style trucks. Can have one out in about 30 mins, if you pull the the fuse block with the dash.

I pulled my dash out but I'm having problems trying to figure out where to start to fix the crack and keep the rest of it falling apart mine only has 2 little cracks in it and I couldn't find a good replacement either how did you do yours

Re: 96 ecsb build

I used the 2 part plastic fix called rapid fix. Its a powder and a liquid and when they combine it makes like a weld on the plastic. I sanded the crack into a v put the liquid on it then put the powder over it then the liquid again. You have to be gentle with the dash after though because its all probably brittle.

I got the hood painted finally. My first attempt at carbon fiber, It came out pretty good but I think it could have been better. I used two similar silvers and I shot it with the big gun instead of the small gun. The last picture is out of focus ill have to get a better one.

Started on the bed finally. Welded up stake pocket holes, random holes previous owner drilled in the rails, and also welded up the roll pan. Also had to strip the bed since the sealer that was used let go.
