I'm impressed by this build. Truly top notch work and the end result is incredible.

I'm also impressed with the speed of the build - you went from primer to a completed truck in less than 2 months!

Totally enjoyed following this. And like watching a good movie, I'm bummed it's finished, ha! Glad that you get to enjoy it and I hope that you'll show us pics of it out and about and any more updates. Most of us can only dream of having a truck this nice so don't end the movie yet!

The alternator wire isnr getting warm.is it? Hard to tell how beefy it is but I installed some stock Camaro e fans on a build and that wire happend to be to small. Another note, is that a new 4 core rad support bracket? If so where did you source it from?
Fantastic build!

Fantastic build!

its a 4 ga wire so no worries there, the radiator cover is from LMC.

luke,
Thanks again for sharing this build. I re-read the thread again:metal: & did not see what you did for your trans linkage? would you be willing to share how you connected the trans to the steering column (in relation to shift linkage)?
Also I was wondering if you would share what wires on your firewall block (truck) you are using on the engine portion to the LS? I would like to know what wires you used from the truck part of the harness?

thank you again & I am following along on the blazer build too!!
;)

Luke, are the right angle hard lines part of the kit? I ask because the V/A installations I've done run the heater and refrigerant hoses through the firewall into the interior. An accident waiting to happen, IMO, especially with heater hoses.

Re: 85 C10 LT/6L80 Frame off build

Mike,
The V.A. "sure fit" systems includes everything needed to replace a factory A.C. system, so yes the right angle hard lines are part of the kit. I have the same version in my build & the 4 lines run through the firewall with a supplied cover plate. when I did my '72 I used a "universal" kit setup & I did what you have done, I felt the same way, although I did not connect the heater hoses (I'm in the desert and it was a show truck). I would feel comfortable to run them how V.A. instructs to do it. I feel V.A. is a quality system with many satisfied customers. I am on my second system personally & very happy.
hope this helps.:metal:

Thanks, I just noticed that on the instruction sheet for the Gen IV unit. Lots of improvements over my 69 C10's 1998 system.

Been awhile so I thought I’d share a few updates. Swapped out the brakes to a new set up, changed to blue interior, manual T56 swap. More pic to come later today.

Im glad I read through this thread today. I was not aware that anyone was making nice bed mats for the 73-87 trucks so I just ordered one from Holley.
Thanks

Can't wait to see your next update Luke. I have a couple of questions, where did you pull your vacuum from? Also, how did you set up your PCV system?

I'm doing an L86/8L90 swap in a 93 and an 84. In the 93 I used Dirty Dingo adjustable motor and transmission mounts and they worked out great. There's not issue with the tranny tunnel and the factory headers as well as the factory gear selector mechanism bolted right in. I also used the holley LT mid-mount setup and it looks great, pic included.

Any suggestions on what brackets to use on the 84? Will any of them work with 8L90? Am I going to have to find a high hump transmission cover? Sorry for all of the questions, but appreciate any advice that you can pass on. Take care,

Rob

Looks great! Do you mind sharing the details on your brake setup and master cylinder?
