Need a new am fm radio/ player for my '81 k20

I had a 20 year old pioneer 3939 am fm cassette radio in my 1981, Finally crapped out

I still have the dash metal for the two knob holes intact , not saw out completely for a slide in stereo

I havent even shopped for car radios cassette or CD in many years

Can anyone recommend a inexpensive good unit. Are they all slide in no days or are two stud knob, still available to fit the original dash holes

I bought a RetroSound Model 2 not quite three years ago and I've been very happy with it. I initially struggled with some alternator noise, but proper wiring and grounding seems to have solved the problem. The sound quality is good enough for me but I don't claim to be a stereophile. I'm not 100% pleased with the radio reception range, but I can't entirely blame RetroSound for that - I may only be a better antenna away from matching the original 1980 radio.

Oddly enough the one thing that pleases me most about the RetroSound are the period correct knobs I was able to get for it. I've had more than one person do a double take once they realize it is an aftermarket system.

Retro gets solid reviews. I have one, but have not used it yet... If you decide to cut, Alpine, Pioneer, and Kenwood are solid.

if you want to keep it a 2 knobber, look for kenwood and alpine on e bay and ask if they can verify all 4 channels and display are working or any kind of warranty, like 30 days or something, if youre not running an amplifier look for one without aux inputs. itll be less expensive
