Anyone ever used a paint stripper to remove factory paint
this would be to get it to bare metal without either blasting it or spending a ludicrous time and effort sanding things down to bare.

I've seen it used but never messed with it myself. Is this for the bedliner?

Re: Anyone ever used a paint stripper to remove factory paint
for the tailgate I got from pick n pull. Just wondering how to approach it. Some areas I will have to sand to bare metal and apply no-rust or POR15 then primer: Some have factory paint still. Trying to figure whether to sand it all down (crazy effort time money etc) or whether to try to build up the areas which will be bare metal to the level of the factory paint. with lots of layers.

I would not take it down to bare metal in areas where you still have factory paint. Are you using rattle-can paint? Rustoleum sells a grey filler primer, Walmart carries it in their automotive section. I've had good luck with it.

Afterwards, use epoxy primer on the bare metal. |
