Went down to the CA NV OR border and picked up this K5. Fueled it up and headed North through the dry lakes to its new home. Drove great, temps stayed normal, tire or driveline vibration was the only noted problem. It was so smokey from the sterilization of CA that you could not see the horizion.
Starter pics.

It is a former Lake County Search and Rescue rig.

Cool rig and cool drive. What are the specs on it and what's your plan for it?

LT it is going to be a dog hauler and winter driver. It has all the Silverado type options, electric everything, tilt, 350 auto and sadly no posi. I think it is going to get Trutracs. Rear first.

The radiator was rotten to the core so I flushed it and installed a new rad, hoses, T-stat. The heater works great, it has gone below 32 twice here. I do need to look at the cables to make sure doors are opening and closing fully before winter hits.

Started on the driveline vibration.

New rear U-Joints.
One was dust.
They had been replaced once before.

Still has a vibration under load, all gears.

Installed a Trutrac this weekend. No more vibration. Everything went smooth other than the neighbors 3 pitbulls killed my dog.

Wait...what? Killed your dog?? That old timer laying down in the pic?
WTF? Better be 3 dead pitbulls.

Good work, that drivetrain was ready for some attention. I've actually opted out on having front posi on four by fours before. There are certain times, depending on what you do, where if you're on an icy road with any sort of a crown, when you start up with all four you can just start sliding laterally toward the ditch. Even in second gear with light throttle. I've had that happen and it's really unnerving. In that case, it's nice to just have 3 out of 4 tires turning and slowly work your way back to where you want to be. Anyway, very sorry about your dog. Easy to tell that he was a dependable companion, just by the picture. Don't know the circumstances, but I agree with Irish from the point of view it would hard to feel like those dogs shouldn't be put down for a savage act like that. Hopefully you and the neighbor can come to some different sort of agreement and some type of boundary. I assume a new dog is in the works, because that's part of the reason you got this truck. Good luck man.
