Its a 74 with a 350/350 combo that will hopefully be getting a LS6.0 turbo conversion. Just repainted it with the CAT flat black paint. Cant beat the $65.00 per gallon price.

Here is a before shot

Here's mine, bought it to restore with my son 2yrs ago. Money got tight and we haven't had time to work on her. The plan is to get her running/driving safely, then start on the body work. I want to shave off all the chrome, get a cowl hood and drop it, maybe a 3/4 or 4/5 drop. I have 18" wheels and 245's up front 265's in the back. Thinking two-tone with a black bottom and silver top. As you can see, I've already flipped the tailgate handle to the inside and smoothed out the tailgate. That's where everything stopped about 2 years ago.

One question I do have... Is it easy to take the trim off the cab that goes under the back window, that big 2-inch piece?!

Trim is easy. The side pieces have a nut on the inside of the cab that you undo and once those are off you just slide the metal piece out.

Clips are left behind and some body work will need to be done but not much and please for the sake of that truck get a better tailgate.

Hey sbd4de3...if you get that trim off and it's in good shape...I'd love to have it.

The corner pieces also have a nut holding them on. If you reach up inside the cab where the rear speakers are (if you have them). if you put your arm up inside the opening, you'll fell the nut inside there. Once those corner pieces are off, the long piece should slide off the clips.

And just for FYI, you can fetch good money on ebay for those pieces if they are in good shape. They are very hard to come by. Actually any of the parts you take off and don't reuse, don't throw them out, people will buy it.

Thanks for the great info TKCR! I'll keep that in mind when I start removing the trim pieces.

I picked up these two 1986 Chevy Silverados for my 2 sons, 8 and 10 years old. I had to explain to my wife the importance of buying them now, rather then when they are old enough to drive, lol.

You are one hell of a salesman..And those are to great looking trucks. My son just turned 18 and just started drivers ed classes. If I could find a way to get an airbag in a square I might have a chance.

My first post:

Have 1978 C-10 Shortbox painted Plum Crazy Purple with a 383, fuel cell, etc. Had big Mickey Thompsons on it when I purchased: the previous owner put dually fenders on to keep them covered rather than tub the box. I remember reading about "Phantom Dually" builds in truck magazines in the 90's, I never thought I'd own one, let alone a shortbox.

I think it was a neat idea but it wasn't for me. Although I'm leaving the drivetrain and fuel cell, I'd like to make it a little more sedate. Removed the flares and painting soon.

I used to drive by that truck almost every day when it was in Calgary, just off Nose Hill Drive by the Esso. Always admired it.
