700r4 lockup

I have TCI lockup wiring on my truck with the vacuum switch that uses brake switch. It is teed into the same line as vacuum advance for HEI dizzy. Should this be on separate vacuum source?

Yes, it really should have its own vacuum source and of the manifold type if I remember. Jim

Since I was curious I did some looking and found this thread.

TCI's page
http://www.tciauto.com/tc/2004r-700r...iring-kithtml/

"Connect the vacuum switch to a
ported vacuum source on the carburetor or throttle body. (If you find
that the TCC operation is erratic in your application, then you may try
moving the vacuum source to the manifold.)"

Instructions, good reading.

Re: 700r4 lockup

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm at work and just got a chance to get on the board. I didn't know if it would affect anything by being hooked up like that, it is running and shifting good. The shop that rebuilt my tranny hooked it up like this. I figured they know more about it than I do.

I hooked mine to a separate source. You have to adjust the switch a little.

alot of times the vacuum port for the distributor is timed , meaning it does not pull from idle to a certain point
