Changed the look

I've had this '70 K/5 for about 6 years now. About all I have done is replace the interior and drive it. I bought it with a 6" BDS lift and 35" MT Baja Claw tires and 3.08 gears.
It rode really rough and bouncy and had a lot of body roll in the turns and would hardly move out of it's own way... I had bought a 2½" Tuff Country EZ ride kit several years ago for another project that never got off the ground. So I decided to install it along with 33" x 12.5 BFG AT tires, 3.73 gears, and a sway bar from a square body truck and changed to Rally wheels for a more classic look The resulting difference is night and day! It drives like a different truck. Before and after pictures. Attachment 2270798 Attachment 2270800 |

Love the Ralley wheels:metal:

Re: Changed the look
Looks great! Those springs are great, but the addition of that anti sway was definitely a good move. It's amazing the difference they make, not just for reducing roll during turns but to stiffen the whole front end.

I took a piece of 2"x4" x 3/16" steel tubing and notched it to fit and slotted the mounting holes for adjustment. Took it on Saturday to get the alignment set and it's good to go, just in time for warm weather! Attachment 2270812 |
Re: Changed the look
I like it. But, then, you've always had a beautiful truck.
When I started rebuilding my Blazer I took the lift off of it and I run 12.5 x 33 BFG all-terrains on it. I also have the rally wheels. The front sway bar is a good idea. I might do that this summer. I'm curious what alignment work you got done. My understanding was that the only thing that's adjustable on these 4WD trucks is the toe-in. |

Correct on the alignment, just had the toe-in set and the steering wheel set straight. I wanted the camber checked and it was well within spec. Although I already had a D44 front disc brake axle, I swapped in a 10 bolt front axle from an '87 Suburban because it already had the 3.73 gear. I put all new ball joints, axle joints, seals, and wheel bearings. I re-geared a spare 12 bolt rear axle that I already had, and I'm saving the set with the 3.08 gears that I removed. I just didn't want to have to do both. |
Re: Changed the look
I get it. I have 3.73s in mine and I like the ratio. When I'm on the freeway it would be nice to have overdrive, but that's a project for down the road.

Seems like there just ain't enough time.... |
Re: Changed the look
3.73 is a good gear for the TH350.
I run 4.10's because I have overdrive (4l60e). Perfect combo with 33's, IMHO. |
Re: Changed the look
Looks awesome! Glad to hear it rides better too.:metal:

Rally Wheels always Touch a Deep spot for me.;) I like Both (Looks). As we get older / Function rules over Looks for me. The Sway Bar looks Great:metal: |
Re: Changed the look
They look much better at stock height but I am a original freak

Re: Changed the look
Very nice, cant go wrong with either wheel in my book!
I am planning the front sway bar as well, probably when I do the ORD springs. |
Re: Changed the look
Great looking Blazer and great advice on the front sway bar, now I need one for my K10 as well :)
