I hate this board, LOL!!!!
So I recently bought a 67 SWB and I'm currently building that one now. I came over to this section and started browsing the burbs, just to look at them. Now i'm hooked. I have my eye on a local in really really great shape. My question for the pros is this….on the roof there are two spots that are somewhat indented or buckled to say. I can easily push the spots up by hand. I want to know if I remove the roof racks will that help out or would I need to brace the roof from the inside? Any other insight on this soon to be purchase would be greatly appreciated.

"Oil canning" can be fixed pretty easily. It takes some heat so be prepared to paint afterwards.

Re: I hate this board, LOL!!!!
I've recently started some body repairs and have been watching a ton of youtubes. One in particular showed the process a big panel truck. He'd torch a spot then quench quickly. This process shrinks the metal in areas where it's stretched.
I've also seen a Fast N Loud show where they fixed a bunch of hail dents this way. Also, Mobile Hot Repair guy (on youtube, previously referenced on the forum, does vids for Brothers) smoothed a quarter panel this way, but used a tool to do so that heated a circular area. I never could find a reference for that tool tho. So do some searching. The info is out there. |

Re: I hate this board, LOL!!!!
The unispot guns come with a pin tip and with a solid copper shrinking tip.im sure some of the other brands do as well. I have one myself. One word of caution. At least on mine if im using it for shrinking for a long period of time it kicks out the built in circuit breaker. Has done it since it was new.
