1950 GMC 450 Deluxe cab 5 window?

Anybody know if a 2013 Duramax would fit between the frame rails and firewall-radiator?. Looks like a lot of room leftover with the 270 ci inline in it. Engine has the Allison tranny with it too, with only 33,000 miles. Truck is all original 3 ton fire truck, putting TBI FI on it right now. Saw the Dmax for sale, got me thinking!!!

The only post with an AD series vehicle was Schwanks 2-20-2013 post, and he's not responding. Also his was probably only 1/2 or 3/4 ton. thanks. Jim

I'm sure it will fit between the rails. It might require firewall mods and a recess though.

Thanks diesel wrenched, now just have to convince wife it will be better than buying a new truck.

With the prices on new trucks it should be an easy sell. Plus anybody can go buy a new truck. Good luck with it.

People have put them in cars so an older truck should be an easy fit other than the usual headaches. The ally trans is huge so that is where I think the problem will be.

That engine sold before the owner called me back. Found another 2012-2013 Duramax on Craigslist but they don't answer phone and their mailbox is full. Sucks!!! Still looking for good low mileage engine with 6 speed manual tranny. Jim

Finally messeged back with pick. 2012 Duramx with 33,000 miles. Pic shows missing AC compressor, alternator. Can't tell if missing turbo and starter from pic. They don't answer phone to answer questions yet though. They're asking $7,000 grand. What are they going for in your areas? Thanks. Jim. It's on an engine stand, so guessing at this point not including tranny of any kind.

What else is missing from this engine. I need to get familiar with them before I make offer on it. Thanks. Jim

Man, for seven grand you can probably buy a wrecked hard complete truck. That 6 speed manual will be tricky to find though. Especially in that new of one. I don't think they even offer a manual trans anymore.
