Windshield drip rail question

At the shop where my Blazer is getting worked on the mechanic noticed something and asked me about it. I know there are the 2 drain holes or protrusions at the corners. But there looks to be 8-10 or so tiny holes across that whole drip rail. They look too clean and evenly spaced to of been drilled by a previous owner. I do not remember my other two Blazer or Jimmy's having them. Has anyone else noticed them?

Thanks
Mark

Sounds not original but can you post a photo of the holes?

Just a probably wrong guess that maybe the holes were for soft top snaps? Location doesn’t sound quite right.

Too small for snaps. There is no distortion like a screw had been installed. I will take pictures next time I am there, next week sometime. Very small like 1/16th?

Who knows with all the hacking I have found.

First chance I’ve had to post a picture. They look very uniform and equally spaced it’s a mystery.

Maybe an exterior sun visor at one time?

The holes are smooth. Smoother than if I had grilled them. There is no evidence of a machine or sheet metal screw ever being installed?

It is possible they were drilled as drain holes to prevent the drip rail from rotting. But they are so evenly spaced and appear perfectly made I’m skeptical?

There was a GM offer that had a wind deflector with their soft top that screwed there. I have one and will check the screw spacing, I'm not sure if it was predrilled and just screw it to the lip or it was a drill yourself deal.

Found a picture on my phone

Mine has evenly spaced holes also. Previous owner had a soft top. They are getting welded up tomorrow

Do you have any pictures of your holes before they’re all welded up? Do they look like mine in the picture or where your holes on the top of the windshield frame?

There are eight holes six and a half inches apart
