Spring Carlisle Swap Meet. Anyone have plans?

Does anyone have experience with the spring meet?

Hints, Tips or Tricks?

https://carlisleevents.com/

https://www.facebook.com/CarlisleEvents/

It is Wednesday, April 24th through Sunday, April 28th.

I am planning on going up Wednesday and returning on Thursday.
Never been there before so I hope to see tons of truck parts ('70 C10).

Re: Spring Carlisle Swap Meet. Anyone have plans?

I've been going for at least 10 years now. Almost always hit the spring Carlisle. Sometimes hit other shows during the summer.

Prepare to do a lot of walking.

You are allowed to bring in food and drinks. I usually stop at the gas station on the way there, grab a sub, beef jerky, gatoraide, water, etc. so I don't have to worry about prices in the park. There is good food in the park, I'm just cheap. They sell beer there and I've brought beer in.

I wear a backpack and leave a wagon in the car in case I see something heavy I want.

Bring a poncho and umbrella in case it rains.

Bring cash. Large vendors usually take cards, swap meet people don't.

Parking in the official lots is like $10. You can usually park on someone's lawn for $5. Google maps the area before you leave. The park is in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

Keep a decent idea of where you are on the map. The place is huge. You can usually download the event book from the website a couple weeks beforehand. It has a map and vendor list. Use this to plan out where you want to go. You can try to see it all, but you'll realize there is a lot not really worth seeing. Main thing is to remember how to get to the gate you parked your car at. Also where the bathrooms are.

Might want to bring your camera. Lots of cool vehicles there.

Think of what you want to get now. I usually make up a list. If I know I can get it on amazon, summit, or rock auto, I'll write down the specs and price. Show price might be better or worse, but if it's close, I'll grab it. I'd rather support these guys at the show. There are a bunch of vendors that sell tools. Get drill bits, cut off wheels, whatever cutting / grinding bits. Lots of places with electrical stuff - wiring, looms, crimp connectors. Lots of body work stuff. Lots of antique stuff.

THEY SELL SINGLE SOCKETS AND WRENCHES! Good for when you lost one wrench or socket out of a set.

I think I've rambled enough for now...

EDIT: Thought of something else.

If you want something big, like a floor pan, talk to the company a couple weeks before hand to see if they will be at the show. There are Chevrolet and Truck shows later in the summer too. Can really help to save on shipping.

If there are members on the board selling things, they may be willing to meet up at Carlisle. Save on shipping and meet a board member. Double win!

Great, that is what I was looking for. I was starting to make a list of what I want or need. Walking is good.
I was hoping to see some 67-72 parts plus '57 Chevy Two-Ten/Belair parts for a friend.
Hopefully they have the dealer list, and what they carry, so I can D/L it before the trip.
Food and water are always in my bag, but a sandwich is a great idea too.

Thank you,

Bill

The event catalog will have a dealer list. I think it specifies what kinda shop they are. I think they get listed alphabetically and then by type. That only covers vendors, not swap meet spaces.

That makes sense to grab it when you see it. Being my first trip I definitely plan on getting disoriented a bit. I only have two days so more is not an option at this time.

Will be there again this year as usual. There are a number of members that go every year. This year I may have a vendor spot. I've done it once. Don't normally do that. I wouldn't plan for Sunday. It's not normally a good day. Better off going during the week if you can.

The guide does you no good unless you are only there to find specific dealers. You just need to hit every row. If I was only going for one day it would be Thursday. That was always the first day, until vendors started packing out so early Sunday is a joke. There may be some who are full-on set up ready to sell on Wed, but for many it is still set-up day. The management started calling it a Wed show to try to get that day back, but it's basically a Thurs-Sat show now.

What kind of C10 parts will you be bringing? Where will you be? Inquiring minds you know... Pictures of your previous Carlisle spots maybe?

Wednesday is out then, so I will go up and just crash then get ready to walk on Thursday. Thank you.

Excellent, I will probably NOT hit every row as I am basically only there for one day. Good that I have all day Thursday to run around. I keep hearing about Sunday being crap on other boards and websites, and fortunately I will not be there then.

I'm not saying Wed isn't such a bad day. Some guys are there ready to sell on Monday. But it really isn't filled in so well on Wed. At least not till later.

Are you going to be set up? If so where? I met you last fall and got a bunch of parts off you. There is always more i need. A decent glove box door for starters.

I'll be set up on NO40-41 with a friend, so one space for each of us. I have an assortment of glovebox doors. Let me know if there's a specific color and I'll bring it along.

Before next fall's show, I'd say that was pretty snappy! I know you keep more than one iron in the fire. The important thing is keep the fire going. See you there.

Looks like the weather is going to be horrible tomorrow and Saturday. Think I am going to have to miss it this year.
