One hatch support stuck. Can't open the hatch. Any ideas?

Bought this '72 K5 recently. Rear hatch only opens a couple of inches. Finally determined that the passenger side hatch support / prop rod is limiting its travel. Any suggestions? Cant even get to the screws to remove the support rod with it in this position.

Disregard. It needed more BRUTE FORCE. It's open now.
