Adding factory gauges to a 1972 C-10

I am changing over from a standard light instrument panel to the factory gauges, no tack. I have repined the connector but I have an empty spot, # 12. This is for the volt gauge. The diagram that I am useing calls for a Black / brown wire, but it doesn't tell me where in comes from.( the other end ) I need this information to finish rewiring my truck. Thanks

Welcome, your going to need a wiring diagram which you can search here or GMC Paul’s website. 1. Did you change your front light harness? You need to do that with a gauge one. There are two fuse links that need fuses. My reproduction one did not have the fuses in them. You have to change the pin locations on the fuse block side too? Just go slow and follow the GMC Paul’s website.

I am reworking the old Front Lamp harness. These 2 fuse that mentioned, do they go to the voltage gauge in the cluster? I have a factory manual and it does not have the gauge schematic in it.

You'll find the instructions for doing this about 1/2 way down the following page link
https://gmcpauls.com/TechTips1.htm
In those you'll see the 2 fuses are added to each of the 2 wires you need to add to forward lamp harness for amp gauge. So those fuses are in the engine compartment.

You will find that the number 1 and number 12 spots on the connector are for the amp gauge. You will need to add the wiring to the engine compartment and make sure you run the two 4 amp fuses as in the wiring diagram.

If it helps, I offer a volt gauge conversion for these trucks that eliminates the amp gauge and all of the wiring for it, including the above mentioned fuses.

Let me know if you have issues with wiring, I can help if needed.
