1/4 mile
Finally got the truck to the track and quickest pass was a 12.7 at 107 mph with a 2.003 60 ft. Trying to get it down to 12.5 or under any ideas would help. I am running a 295/65/15 mickey Thompson drag radian with 15 psi in them.

Re: 1/4 mile
What do you have for rear gears and a converter? Looks like theirs an easy 2 tenths to be had in the 60 foot. What is the engine setup?

Re: 1/4 mile
its a 400 sbc with weiand 177 6 psi boost 3.73 gears turbo 350 trans and tci 3500 converter

Re: 1/4 mile
Cal tracs for leaf springs.
If its truck arm read up on super 73's post's |
Re: 1/4 mile
Every tenth in 60'= about 2/10's down track .

Re: 1/4 mile
What year truck?
What has been done to the suspension? (Shocks/springs) How are you doing your burn out? How long and are you rolling out of it? |
Re: 1/4 mile
its a 71 longbed stock shocks and lowering springs, not doing a huge burnout but am rolling out
|
Re: 1/4 mile
Assuming it is a trailing arm and not leaf?
Front lowering sporting is not helping transfer weight to the rear. Too short/stiff. How long of a burn out, 5 sec then rolling out? |
Re: 1/4 mile
it is a coil spring rear, and probly about 5 sec burnout
|
Re: 1/4 mile
Is it even spinning, or just a dog out of the hole?
|
Re: 1/4 mile
Spins a little then hooks up
|
Re: 1/4 mile
Sounds like you need a different front spring to start. Do toy know what it weighs? Front and rear axle weights would be most helpful.

Re: 1/4 mile
I'd try a set of pure slicks and try to bring up your launch RPM a bit so you are into a bit of boost.

Re: 1/4 mile
A 177 being a smaller roots blower should be building boost pretty fast. I would assume at 3500 rpm it is doing good making torque.
A slick might help, but you still run the issue of not transferring weight to the rear. I used to have lowering springs and I don't now. Your radial is not much smaller than mine, they work just fine if you can tune the suspension which you can't right now. |
Re: 1/4 mile
Just watched the video.
What gear are you doing your burn out? It is hard to see in the video but it sure looks like it leaves flat and doesn't transfer. I watched the video a few times. |
Re: 1/4 mile
1st gear burnout and it does leave flat
|
Re: 1/4 mile
You need to get more heat in that tire. 1st gear burn outs will not spin it fast enough. Get it in high gear with 5k rpm add quick as you can. That alone well help the reaction issue, might not take it away completely.

Re: 1/4 mile
I'm heading back again friday I'll heat them up more and see what happens
|
Re: 1/4 mile
Did you make it back to the track last night like you were thinking?
|
Re: 1/4 mile
