brothers/lmc rear tank questions
1 Attachment(s)
ok ive search and searched till my eyes are sore. i bought the brothers fuel tank relocation kit and starting to get around to the install now since im gonna do my bed wood now too. did a test fit and saw the issue about notching the cross channel for the bed wood. no big deal. the issue im having is there are these tabs on the fuel tank that keep it from sitting flat on the frame. what did others do? cut them off or leave them? the other issue i seeing is the fill pipe. im gomna try turning the tank to fill from the passanger side to see if it clears the cross brace better. thanks

Re: brothers/lmc rear tank questions
I have a 72 suburban that originally came with a rear tank, but on mine, those tabs go into holes on the frame and keep the tank from sliding around...
There's 4 holes on each side...2 for the straps and then slightly inboard from them, 2 more for the locating tabs... |
Re: brothers/lmc rear tank questions
well my c10 does not have holes that those tabs will go in, so i cut them off. but now i see that even if i notch the wood cross brace the filler neck line on the tank is right in line with the bed mount bracket. and the fill neck is still sitting below the top of the frame a little. so as of now i ordered a boyd welding tank with side fill to see if its gonna fit better. will update later.

Re: brothers/lmc rear tank questions
I had the same problem with my tank. I cut mine off also. Your correct the cross rail was directly over the fill. I installed tank, (no gas in it yet) drove over to my welding buddy. He cut off the filler neck, capped it. Installed a new filler neck (1 1/2") about 2" behind old one, layer it level it goes right below frame. Added 6" fuel hose from there to 1 1/2" filler neck. I believe it's going to work great, truck is off being painted, will hook it all up when it gets back. I cut the cross rail down in the center, it sits on the frame on each side of the tank for support and allows me to bolt bed to it.

Old would you happen to have a picture or able to get one of your gas tank setup?
