can a pickup frame be used on a blazer

I seen a 72 blazer this weekend. I have been wanting to convert one to 2wd. I have a long bed frame and thinking it might be easy to shorten it to the length of a blazer. My qusetion is can it be done. Other then shorting it and changing body mounts is everyhting else the same.

If you have a pickup frame and a Blazer frame, it would be easier to swap the 2wd stuff to the Blazer frame. Using a PU frame would require shortening the frame and fabricating body mounts.

This question has come up at least 5 times in the past 2 months!

I don't have any details for you, but several years ago a friend of mine shortened shortbox 2wd frame for his blazer. It wasn't very difficult.

what we need is someone who will do one so people will no if it is truly possible and can be done every one on here has a lot of different opinions on if it will work or not but no defendant answers. i would kinda be interested in it also if done right it would look like a factory 2wd.

When my friend did his, he shortened the frame by the difference in wheelbase, and added the rear blazer mounts from his blazer frame. I did see it, so I know it can be done and isn't extremely difficult. I'm sure someone on here must have done it as well.

I am trying to do the same thing.I have a 71 4x4 jimmy that would be nicer if it was riding smooth and 2wd. I know the frames can be shortened cause I have done a lwb to swb but don’t know if body mounts line up if you shorten a long frame to a jimmy.I don’t want to violate the stock frame in case I feel like making it 4x4 again. I want to be able to just sit the body on and go either way.

Hopefully turp will chime in again. I'm pretty sure he ended up shortening at 3/4 ton longbox frame down for a Blazer.

That being said, I have a factory 2wd Blazer and before I modified it to my liking, it still rode like crap:lol::lol::chevy:

It’s mostly not about the ride quality for me. In 4wd form it dosent ride bad. I just want to have a 2wd and 4wd version. Since I have 2 I might as well. Located a frame now just have to measure and see how body mounts line up.

I just scrapped 2 if you need some extra body mounts.

My son and I are in the process of doing this exact swap right now, 72 k5 to a 69-72 swb frame. Shortened the frame 11” set the body on everything lines up with the exception of 1 missing mount on each side.

My son and I are doing this exact swap at the present time. Shortened a swb frame 11” mounts line up other than 1 that the pick up frame didn’t have. We knocked the rivets off the k5 frame and used those on the new frame. No other issues....so far.

I think the 65-72 snub nose P10 is the same as a blazer frame.

Where did you cut the frame? Any pics?

We cut the frame under what would have been the cab floor behind front cab mounts, I don’t know how to post a pic up on here but if you want to message me I can either email or text you a couple pictures. Was a pretty good job to do. It just takes a little patience which is hard for me lol
