Swapping Bumpers...What's all got to be done?
The body shop bent my front bumper on my 70, but in a way it's good because I want to swap over to the 71-72 bumper. So they bought one for me to replace the one they bent. What else is needed besides the lights that are needed. I thought somewhere I read that the bumper sits offset on the 67-70's
thanks |
Not sure about everything needed, but I think the wiring harnesses are different. You may need to lengthen the signal light portions. Someone here will give you to specifics.
I have a set of 71/72 light assemblies for your new bumper if you need them. PM me if interested. Davy |
The outer mounting bracket I know is different (to clear the lights). I cannot remember if the inner brackets are the same or not. As already mentioned, you will need to modify/change your current wiring harness to have the turn/park lights in the bumper. I think that is it.

Inner brackets are the same.
Outer brackets are different between 71-72 and 67-70. Wiring will work with no mods needed. It will reach to plug into the lights. |
Thanks Guys I'll look for some outer brackets on the parts board.

No problem Bill, I was kind of wondering the same thing. Hadn't heard from him in a long time. How's that dually coming along Tx?
|
The dually is going to be Matt67350's in a week or two. I had some real tough times that kept me off my feet for a few months so not any real progress on it.
No worry though, because I'm building a 64 Suburban right now for my rehab therapy till I can go back to work. |
Did you get hurt at work?
|
Yep, exploded a knee and leg. I got me a new titanium super knee now. The scar will keep me from ever being a Brad Pitt body double in Holywood though.

i replied to your topic in the parts board.
