Very Nice Truck on eBay

Re: Very Nice Truck on eBay
Nice truck, ....about $18-20k high in my opinion.....but a nice truck nonetheless.;)
That said, they are starting with offers so I wonder how that is going for them....you can always start high and see what rolls in, which is better than starting low, lol. On the other hand, if you find that one guy out there with deep pockets who doesn't want to look around much, you might very well get a high dollar sale out of it. Still....a very nice truck! All good Coley:mm: |

Looks like the truck has already sold. The SPID is for a long bed fleet side truck. Regardless that is a very nice truck. I would love to have it.

Re: Very Nice Truck on eBay
SPID looks like a forgery IMO.

Re: Very Nice Truck on eBay
I was kinda thinkin the same thing. Odd though, most re-pop SPIDs don't use the extra characters around the 3 digit RPO. But, what's really throwing me off is that IF it was a new SPID, it wasn't made to reflect what's been installed on the truck - which is usually the point of the fake SPIDs. i.e. no buckets listed, no AM/FM, etc. The order doesn't seem right and I've never seen an RPO for side marker lamps on a 69 (or anything for that matter). Hmm. And maybe it's just my imagination - Model # and wb identify it as a long stepper, but I swear it looks just a little longer than a short bed and a little shorter than a long bed to me. Yes, it has to be my imagination :) Anyway - spotless truck, lotta work went into it. Engine compartment is cleeeeeaaaaaannn.

speaking of nice on ebay... https://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Chevro...k/254028988707
I'd want to see the SPID to confirm everything - seat cover is a Custom Deluxe trim level and it's missing the chrome tailgate handle, so who knows. But I don't think I see a headliner, so the seat is probably original and the Super stuff added. Still, confirm the SPID if truly interested. But it sure is pretty. I have a thing for 71 Cheyenne Super Custom Campers - have had one - they always seemed like stealth Supers to me because the Camper nameplate supersedes the Cheyenne Super emblems. Anyway, who knows what it is - it's nice though. Seller said he'd send the SPID, but hasn't. |

Re: Very Nice Truck on eBay
I finally got the SPID for the bronze truck - right before the bid ended. It's a Custom Deluxe as expected. Hope the winner didn't think they just got a steal on a Cheyenne Super. Indeed a very nice truck, and not a bad price for the condition - I believe it would have been worth just as much if advertised as a Custom Deluxe. I miss "the old guy" seller that just tells it like it is and doesn't tell you something it's not - or make it sound like it's the last one on the planet. But they don't sell on ebay either.

If a board member did buy the blue truck from Hendrick please let us know, thanks.

Re: Very Nice Truck on eBay
That bronze truck is nice and I agree, that is a very good price for that truck if it sold for $15,700.
Testament to the fact that the 'asking $45k stuff', at least in mass produced trucks... is usually (always?) a bit of a stretch in order to get a nice one. The blue stepper in the original Ebay listing was a nice truck too tho'.... The spid on the bronze one looks good, and no worries it not being a Cheyenne Super (or equivalent). I agree tho'....I would probably pull that interior dash woodgrain stuff out of there and replace it with the original stuff...not being a big fan of interior dash woodgrain. I sold my (green/white) '72 Cheyenne Super in order to get my (blue/white) '72 Highlander....no way would I trade back. All good Coley |

SPID on blue truck looks fake to me as well.

Re: Very Nice Truck on eBay
Does anyone know what the blue truck went for? If it was the real deal, it'd be pricey, but I figure just a restoration to that level with those options should be $35K but I really don't know.
If it was factory optioned that way, much more! |
Re: Very Nice Truck on eBay
the blue truck was ended by the seller - if it was an auction, he may have pulled it if it didn't get what he wanted. I've been winning auctions near the very end and then I get an email saying no longer available. It was beautiful.

Re: Very Nice Truck on eBay
The bronze one sold and is now magically relisted. Seller never returned correspondence after I asked about Cheyenne Super trim vs SPID. It sold for a pretty fair price too, not peanuts. Never can really know if it’s bad behavior on the part of the bid winner or on the part of the seller when stuff gets relisted right away. I’ve been on the losing end of an eBay bidder flaking on me and it’s very frustrating - no way to truly regain credibility once you relist it, no matter how well you explain the reason for relist. However, my inner skeptic more often than not suspects a shill bidder (generally speaking, no idea on this truck).

I wonder if that's the original steering color? My color challenged eyes can't quite ID the body color. Looks SHARP with those door panels. Quote:

As for badging, it's actually correct for a 71 - regardless of whether it's a Custom Deluxe or Cheyenne Super (or any trim level). Z81 RPO trumps the fender badge in 65-71, but is not actually a "trim level", per se. In 72, the Custom Camper nameplate moved to the door and became disconnected from fender badging. |
